I am a professional counselor and I have been practicing for over 20 years. I have worked with many areas including anxiety, stress, self esteem depression and life transitions. I graduated with my B.S. from Oakland University and my Masters in Counseling also came from Oakland University. I believe that life will always have it's struggles and that we can all benefit from counseling. Life can throw things at us that we are not prepared for and I can be that person to help you through life's challenges. I am a great listener, compassionate and empathetic. I will meet you where you are and help you progress towards your goals. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic, Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Behavioral Therapies. It takes courage to be able to admit that we are in a place that we can benefit from help from someone else. You have taken that first step towards change and I would enjoy working with you. I am looking forward to working with you on life's journey. This platform is not appropriate for those feeling suicidal. My assumption is that it’s taken some time for you to consider reaching out to a therapist. It is so necessary and also difficult to become vulnerable to talk about what you would like different for your life. My job is to get a complete picture in the beginning to understand how that has happened, and then, always with your consent, to propose how I might be helpful in changing that picture. I am, at heart, a Logotherapist. I want for you to develop a sense of purpose and meaning for your life, at which point, you will no longer need a therapist. I will use any or all of my training to get to that point- cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprogramming (EMDR), exposure therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. I will work with you on creating a comfortable environment and relationship for you to make whatever changes are necessary to get you to where you want to go.
