Jaclyn Jorgensen
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling & a Graduate Certificate in Holistic Health from Western Michigan University and have been formally trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Michigan and I am also a Board Certified Tele-mental Health Counselor (BC-TMH). I have been working in the human services field for over 15 years with a variety of professional experience including grief & loss work within hospice organizations, coaching those with Traumatic Brain Injury to be able to practice independent living skills, student counseling in university setting, and outpatient substance abuse counseling. I spent over 6 years working as a full time therapist in an intensive hospital-based psychiatric treatment center specializing in treating those with depression and anxiety. In 2018, I transitioned into working full time in higher education, providing therapy and mental health education to students in a college campus setting. I find great fulfillment in seeing people grow and change in this environment as they work through the challenges of life transitions. Now, I have been with BetterHelp since March of 2017 and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to embark on this adventure of web-based counseling with you. What I am hoping to offer you is guidance to assist you in navigating through your life transitions, stressors, and life-changing decision-making processes. With my breadth of knowledge and experience in various areas of counseling, I have developed the skills necessary to be able to help you to see yourself as a “whole person” and really dig into what you want for yourself in the future. I will gently challenge you to take steps toward reaching your goals and will assist in helping you to tackle your own thought processes that have been barriers to you in the past. I hope to begin working with you soon!

Erin McDaid
Hi, I am Erin McDaid. I have been working for over eight years as a clinical therapist with adults, older adults, and older adolescents. I use a goal-oriented therapy style, focusing on areas of strength or need that are determined by the client. My style is no-nonsense and direct. I use a wide variety of skills and techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing. I often assign homework for clients to complete between therapy sessions (however, I try not to make it complex or overwhelming). I do not believe in stereotyping, labeling, or stigmatizing people. I welcome working with people of all faiths, genders, sexual orientations, political affiliations, and ethnicities. At an initial interview clients should expect to discuss with me their background (how they grew up, what they have done since high school, any relationship status), their current symptoms, any drug or alcohol use or history, any legal history, and their hopes for what they will get from therapy. During this discussion I will work to clarify any questions that occur to me and to reassure the client that both the client and I are understanding the client’s needs and history. We will also discuss what the specific issues are that brought you to therapy. Be ready to be open and forthcoming. Clients may leave their initial session with a simple homework assignment that will begin to move them forward with their treatment.
