Working with a therapist can help you manage many of life’s challenges. If you’re looking for mental health care in Michigan, it may be beneficial to consider online therapy. Barriers to treatment, like having to go through a Blue Care Network agent to find in-network providers for various insurance plans, can make it challenging to find a therapist in Michigan. An online platform like BetterHelp can make finding therapy more flexible and convenient.
With BetterHelp, you can work with a licensed clinical social worker or other mental health professional from the comfort of your home at a time that works for you. Whether you need help dealing with work stress, coping with having split custody of your children, or increasing self awareness, therapy can help. Your provider will work with you to determine a therapy approach to help guide you through the healing process as you overcome your unique challenges and meet your goals.
If you’re looking for a licensed therapist, MI has many online options. Below is a list of available social workers, psychologists, and other mental health professionals licensed to provide telehealth services state-wide.
Crystal Pasciak
Hello and welcome to my page! All of us as therapists have lots of letters after our name, mine are LPC, NCC. You may wonder what it all means. Mine means that I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is also nationally certified. Meaning I can move more easily from my home state of Michigan if I choose to having met the requirements for almost every state in the US rather than just Michigan's requirements. I have been doing one on one counseling as well as family counseling for approximately 6 years now. I began my career working at a partial hospitalization program running group meetings for clients who were in crisis. I love it all, I love helping people figure out their issues or just how to help you best to improve your lives overall. I was a double major at Michigan State University in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I have a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and have completed almost all of the course work towards my PhD. I attend many seminars throughout the year in order to learn new methods, keep up to date on current research and medications as well as to meet new people and get fresh perspectives. I don't have one particular treatment approach that I exclusively use. I have found that each person is different and I need to be able to change and adapt to them. I do have favorites however and those are Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I like CBT because it helps identify negative or faulty thinking and helps you see things more clearly in order to respond to them in a healthier way. I like SFBT because it focuses on solutions. You tell me what goal you want to reach and we work together to get you there. If you're ready to start, then I am too!
Eva "Melissa" Gadd
Hi there, my name is Melissa and I'd love to be a support to you! I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan over 20 years ago and have worked in a variety of settings both as a medical social worker and as a therapist. I truly enjoy the strong relationships that I have built and consider myself lucky to enjoy my work every day. I have worked with a wide range of people experiencing a variety of struggles, including depression and anxiety, grief and loss and life changing transitions. These transitions may include from school to work, marriage or divorce, the birth of a child or an empty nest and changes in personal health or caregiving for a loved one. I utilize a variety of approaches to help you achieve your goal, tapping into your personal strengths and offering support and acceptance. I feel that working in a Person In Environment perspective can be validating and help people achieve their goals quicker. I also employ techniques such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, recognizing that what works for one person may not work for everyone. I am excited to be a part of BetterHelp, with this platform allowing validation and support to be available to everyone, even with the hectic lifestyles many lead. I look forward to working together soon!

Do you find you are missing your voice? Whether you are an individual person or part of a couple trying to find that synergy you remember, but can no longer find. Come on...let's start this journey together. I am your partner... I am a facilitator of change and together we do this counseling thing! Human to Human...you and me. I am YOUR change agent. YOUR advocate. YOUR partner in this process. I am here to help you identify things that challenge you, discourage you, scare you...and then we find ways to bust through what you think is holding you back or keeping you from reaching your goals. Which we will identify - TOGETHER!
Dr. Sandra McClennen
I am licensed as a psychologist in independent practice by both Michigan, where I lived most of my life, and Ohio, where I now live. I also provide supervision for psychologists with a Master’s degree. For many years, I have helped people deal with the difficult emotions of anxiety, stress, frustration and anger, sadness and grief and sometimes depression, and who may experience occasional or constant difficulty communicating with each other. I have helped parent and child or adult child communicate better, siblings communicate better, and couples communicate better. I believe that every person has value and that blame is toxic and is best avoided. I help people stop “beating themselves up.” I will not judge you. Rather, together we can explore ways to think differently about what is causing you distress and emotional pain, whether it is yourself, others, your environment, recent events, or all of the above. I have a humanistic philosophy and often use the tools offered by cognitive behavior therapy. I also find that teaching mindfulness and meditation helps many people. Learning to recognize and accept your emotions but using thinking rather than immediately acting on your emotions works better than burying them. I promise to listen carefully and to respect you. I look forward to working with you.

I am a licensed psychotherapist in the states of Michigan and Maine and have worked as a counselor and life coach with individuals and families for over 30 years. My focus is on helping clients achieve satisfying relationships and greater joy in their lives regardless of what their experiences may have been in the past. I use an eclectic approach to therapy seeking to find and utilize the methods that are most comfortable and helpful to you. In addition to traditional modalities (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psycho Dynamic, Humanistic, etc.), I have extensive experience working with EFT (tapping) , Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. If you prefer a more traditional approach, that is what we will pursue, and if you are familiar with and interested in more energy based counseling that is available as well. It is of utmost importance to me that you feel valued and respected as an individual as you pursue the life that you want to live. Please note that I do not list all my availability on the online calendar, so if you try to schedule an appointment with me and don't see a suitable time, please let me know your schedule and I am confident that we can find a slot that will work for both of us.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Some commonly asked questions can be found below.
How much does a therapist cost?
Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.
BetterHelp offers payment plans of $60 to $90 per session, charged monthly in a lump sum. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.
Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.
How do I know if I should get a therapist?
Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions in Michigan can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.
Does insurance cover therapy?
Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.
Is online therapy safe?
Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.
