In life, you always want to be marching forward towards your next goal or destination. When you’re not doing that, it can be a bit of a challenge and can frustrate you as you try to make progress. Depression, anxiety, and not knowing how to proceed can affect your progress, but a counselor based in Wyoming can help.
Wyoming is known for being the city with a vision and progress. With that said, progress is not always a straight line. It may zigzag, go a few steps back, and take a while. A counselor can help make sure that the line is as easy to navigate as possible.

Karin Johnson
*The first step to getting anywhere, is deciding you’re no longer willing to stay where you are! * Hi and welcome! My name is Karin Johnson and I want to thank you for visiting my page. Reaching out for help is always a challenging, but important step, and I am glad you've taken that step! First, let me introduce myself to you... I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Arizona State University and received my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups of all age ranges. My style is warm, empathic, and non-judgmental. I want you to feel comfortable working with me. My counseling style is relaxed and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, strength-based modalities, solution-focused counseling, psychoeducation, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness practices. I look to highlight a person’s strengths and their positives in their lives, and to work through personal difficulties and together, overcome life’s challenges to reach your goals. My role is to assist you in developing the needed skills and confidence to live your life to the fullest. Some of these skills may include improving communication, understanding healthy boundaries, and developing good relationships. I like to set practical goals with you, to help make changes in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that solve problems. I will provide resources and worksheets as needed, so you can continue to focus on your growth outside of messaging or our live sessions. If you want support to start addressing the issues that are holding you back and causing you discomfort, then I would really like to start working with you. I have the warmth, insight, and skills so together we can help you build healthy coping strategies.

TJ (Tanya) Gorman
I am TJ Gorman and I have been working as a therapist since 2001. However, I have worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years. I began working in inpatient mental health as an intake worker and then worked with the homeless providing case management and outreach. I started my counseling profession in the field of substance abuse and gambling. After completing my masters degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Drake University in 2007, I continued to enhance my therapy skills and furthered my knowledge in trauma. While at a large non-profit, I provided assessment, individual and group therapy. I served on several committees and helped implement changes to our organization and completed the Change Leader Academy through the NIATx program. This helped our agency better serve clients by mainstreaming paperwork, improving access to services and building retention. I also served as a clinical supervisor while at this agency. I have presented locally and regionally on trauma and addictions and as a parent of both biological and adoptive kids, I understand the unique challenges that can come with family disruptions. I currently hold licenses and certifications in mental health, gambling and substance use disorders. My theory of change focuses on better understanding how our childhood shapes who we are so we can become who we want to be. Helping persons heal these past trauma's or hurts, helps support long term success and a renewed sense of purpose. Sometimes the coping skills we use to help us become disruptive and damaging. Learning how to be at peace with our emotions, setting boundaries, and identifying healthier coping skills we can live the life we really want and deserve.
