Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me! My name is Stacy and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Minnesota. I have over 13 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, free inner-city medical and mental health clinics, high schools and in my private practice. All of these settings have given me experience working with a broad range and severity of clinical issues. I have the most experience working with stress and anxiety disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), relational conflicts, and personal growth. Currently I’m training in integrative measures to help heal mental health concerns through natural supplements, food, movement and the outdoors. I have also graduated from coach training and am a graduate of Coach U and Corporate Coach U. My passion for the field of mental health stems from my personal experience with it. I have overcome a debilitating anxiety disorder with accompanying depression. This left me housebound, unable to drive for years due to various physical symptoms from panic attacks, and unable to do much of anything physical. It was the scariest, most difficult time of my life. However, I made a promise to myself that if one day I could overcome my debilitating anxiety, then I would help others with theirs. Not only did I learn tools and mindsets to overcome it, but I now challenge myself every year with new physical goals to meet (this year that goal was to summit the Grand Teton, and I made it!). In doing this, I have pushed myself to be stronger and more resilient mentally and physically than I have ever been. Having had intense anxiety, I also learned along the way that the way you care for your body—what you eat, how you move, getting outdoors all have a tremendous impact on your mental health. What you put in your body affects your mind. Thus, I provide my clients with evidence-based integrative health strategies to help you set overall goals that will not only help you with what you are struggling with mentally but also aid you in reaching better health all-around. I know firsthand that having mental health concerns can be extremely difficult and scary. Aside from the omnipresent stigma, the process for getting help can be overwhelming and exhausting, leaving one feeling frustrated and lonely. However, I also know how life-changing it can be to find the right help. You only get this one life and I am here to help you live it in your most authentic, fully expressed, ideal way. I use a person-centered, holistic, multicultural, and eclectic approach in treatment, meaning I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your own personal cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence-based techniques including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, outdoor therapy and emotion and solution-focused therapies. I would describe my style as warm and supportive, but I also like to push you and hold you accountable to your goals when you are ready. Together we can work on setting goals and the steps needed to help you overcome your current problems. I believe in taking time and working on mental and physical wellness slowly, holistically, and consistently. I look forward to helping you in any way I can! Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about me!

Hello there! I am glad you are here and welcome to BetterHelp. My name is Andrea Carin, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Minnesota and have a wide range of experience with individual, family, and adolescent counseling. I became a therapist because I have always enjoyed working with people and felt the desire to be a helping influence that would make a positive difference in people’s lives. A supportive and trusting connection are the most important ingredients to the therapy relationship and I make them my priority. I believe in the power of seeing the positive possibilities in life, and am focused on identifying people’s strengths and seeing the greater potential in each individual. In my practice, I like to establish a “down to earth” approach along with instilling humor and warmth, which I feel allows for the most beneficial therapeutic connection. I have a strengths-based, solutions-focused, approach that allows me to work well with any age range and a variety of challenges. My background as a therapist is comprehensive and driven by my founding belief that we inherently have the power to create the lives we want with more happiness, ease, and clarity. As part of my practice, I believe in the transformative power of appreciation, meditation, deep breathing techniques, yoga, visualization, and other life-affirming activities, such as spending time with animals and being in nature. In my work with people, I have had extensive experience, both personally and professionally navigating ADHD, generalized anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions/changes. I’ve worked with clients for 19+ years to help them find whatever it is they are looking for in their life journeys and I consider it an honor to be a part of the process. Hi. I'm Michelle Carter, LICSW, MSW, SAP, with DBT and Trauma credential (CTTP) eligibility. My primary interest and concern is you, your goals and current or persistent challenge(s). I believe the therapeutic process is a collaborative one. You may know what you want and need, yet you experience obstacles. Sometimes, we aren't sure of what we truly want or need. Sometimes, we get distracted by the "should do's" or "should be's," that are actually someone else's wants or needs. Somewhere along the journey, we can pick up rocks we carry, unaware that we can set some of these down. We can become free to keep and carry those goals, values and ideas we truly want for ourselves in our lives. This then applies equally to others. I act as a guide to assist you in discovering greater self-awareness, acceptance, and strengths I will support you in a nonjudgmental exploratory journey to define and reach your goals that come from the healthy, confident you-- not from fear or symptomatology. We can explore and determine how best to decrease the symptoms or behaviors that are holding you back from more meaningful, free and joyful experiences. I look forward to working with you. toward greater health and personal freedom. Michelle

Hello, I am Michele Fitzgerald and I started working with adolescents in substance abuse treatment in the 1980s. I have a rich work history including working in Kodiak, Alaska as well as Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to substance abuse and mental health counseling, I have worked in adoption, birth parent counseling, and social work in a hospital and long-term care center. I appreciate the evolution of the Behavioral Health and Alcohol and Drug counseling fields which were treated at one time separately when I started my career. I view recovery as synonymous with wellness. I value the development of strength through adversity. I am a good match if you are looking for a counselor who is a good listener and views mistakes as opportunities to learn. I am available on Thursdays from 4:00 - 8:00 pm if this works for you.

I believe that every person holds the power and resources necessary to find happiness. As a trans woman I understand both the external and the internal forces that create self-doubt and spike fear—the loneliness, the separateness, and the tailspin of uncertainty. I know, too, from professional and personal experience that self-acceptance and happiness are within everyone. Science upholds this belief, telling us that those who seek help benefit from it. For me this is not a theory, but the product of experience. I favor mindful-based approaches, but I also have practice experience with cognitive behavioral therapy and other evidenced-based methods. I work well with people challenged not only by anxiety, depression, trauma (PTSD), but also with those in challenging relationships, gender issues, especially those from LGBTQ and military veteran populations. I welcome all those who seek an empathic, supportive, and nonjudgmental collaborator to a better, more fulfilling and satisfying life.

Life forever changes, and the only option we have is to change with it! My practice is centered on client’s gaining new perspectives that drive personal change! With over 10 years of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of individuals, couples, and families! I believe that the client is the author of their story, which inherently gives them the power to recreate the narrative at any time. I work with clients to acknowledge patterns and perspectives, both conscious and unconscious, that play a role in keeping them engaged in cycles of negativity. As a person of color, I understand how hard it can be to engage with the therapy process when you don’t feel culturally understood or represented. As an African American male, I provide culturally competent therapy by engaging your story and understanding that the world associates different meanings to similar instances based on race, ethnicity, and culture. Through this work, it is my goal to instill trust in the mental health profession for people of color that may have had or heard of negative instances previously. I believe that every client is unique, has a different experience, needs to be heard, and should not be satisfied with cookie cutter solutions. There are many ways of addressing your difficulties and making life better. Let me be a partner in finding what works for you on your journey towards a New Normal!

Some other commonly asked questions on therapy with a licensed counselor and BetterHelp serving the Hartland area can be found below:

How does the cost of in-person counseling with a therapist compare to the cost of BetterHelp with a licensed Hartland therapist?

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US with most therapists is $100 to $200 per hour. These prices may be higher in Hartland due to a higher cost of living, and a limited number of therapists taking new clients. The price also depends on the type of provider you are looking for. See the following average prices for various mental health providers without insurance:

  • Counseling with a psychiatrist: $150-$500
  • Counseling with therapists: $100-300
  • Therapy with a psychologist: $100

While many psychologists in Hartland may not take health insurance, some in the state of Minnesota may work on a sliding scale, meaning they'll factor in your income and charge what you can afford per session. With a BetterHelp therapist throughout the state of Minnesota you can expect significantly more affordable options, with therapists sessions ranging from $65 to $100 per week (billed every four weeks).

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Hartland?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a Hartland therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors and therapists are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Hartland therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A Hartland therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in MN, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles or therapists above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 56042 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site where you can schedule a session based on your and the therapist's schedule. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Hartland counselor?

Before seeing your Hartland therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Hartland therapists here may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Hartland licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Hartland counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Hartland, Minnesota can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Hartland has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
