Dan Cooper
Hello, and thanks for checking out my profile. My name is Dan, and I've been a professional counselor for about 15 years now. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to help many people over the years achieve greater functioning in their lives. Counseling, as I practice it, is a discussion of your goals and how you want to pursue them. When we meet, we discuss how your efforts go, as well as the changes you want to make in pursuit of them. I provide constructive feedback, but my role is not to express judgment over what you feel you want to pursue, though I may make suggestions on how you might want to pursue it. While I have worked with clients of many backgrounds and diagnoses, I feel that my approach works best with those who are working to better various relationships, those who are working to deal better with their responses to things, dealing with the effects of various mood and personality disorders (depression, mania, anger, anxiety, borderline personality disorder), as well as those working to maintain abstinence from substance use. I do have particular interests in working with those who are transitioning between phases of life (high school, college, career, etc.), and those who are working to overcome roadblocks in various creative endeavors (art, music, writing). All that said, I may not be a great option for those who are participating in counseling involuntarily, as my process benefits from a client's sincere interest in making meaningful change. I would add that I would not likely be a good fit for those seeking couples' counseling, for those seeking help with pornography or sex addiction, or for those seeking Christian or spiritual counseling. My approach is personable, informal, and non-directive. I aspire to be non-judgmental, and I try to really be a person in your corner, whatever corner that might be. If you're interested in exploring whether I might be a helpful support for you, I hope you'll feel comfortable in taking the next step to reach out and let me know how I can try to be of help to you. Please be aware, I'm currently available for phone or video sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursday afternoons. I can text through the week, but do not generally check my messages on the weekends.

Leilani Faber
I am a licensed professional counselor and advanced alcohol drug counselor who has served clients in Missouri, Texas and Oregon. I have been providing services for 10 years as an addictions counselor, dual-diagnosis therapist, crisis counselor and therapist for those with serious and persistent mental disorders. I have practiced in multiple arenas including community counseling centers, schools, secure and non-secure criminal justice facilities, hospitals and private homes. I spent a few years in administrative roles but always returned to what I love...working directly with clients. My approach is somewhat eclectic in that I assess each client and use the modality best suited for their current challenges. This may include Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Applied Positive Psychology and Person-Centered Therapy. Teaching and supporting clients in learning new skills is also very important to me and are included in many of my treatment plans. I take a holistic approach by looking at the body, spirit and mind. I believe that nutrition, exercise, mindfulness and overall health play a foundational part in the therapy process. I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Missouri State University. Since graduating, I have pursued additional education and training in multiple areas including positive psychology, anger management, relationship skills, domestic violence, and suicide prevention. I am a skilled communicator with lived experience. These attributes help me to better help others. I look forward to providing you help to transform your life!
Sadie Renander
Hello! I'm Sadie, and I hope I can be helpful in whatever has brought you here today. I am a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner in Nebraska. I have 17 years of experience working in the mental health field in residential, outpatient, in-home, and hospital settings. The largest part of that time has been spent working with children and families dealing with trauma, abuse, relationship conflicts, depression, and anxiety, among other issues. I received my Master of Science in Family and Youth Services/Clinical Counseling in 2012 from Bellevue University in Bellevue, NE. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trust-Based Relational Intervention but also feel comfortable with other modalities depending on what might be most effective for the client. I know that there is always a modality that can be matched to the needs of the individual. My style begins with being person-centered. I don't believe there are cookie-cutter answers to life's challenges, so I begin by learning about the client and what will best help them achieve their own goals. I have experience as both the client and the clinician, so I know how difficult it is to seek help and open ourselves up to vulnerability. I focus on empathy and connection in my approach to meeting the client's needs. I see therapy as a team approach to tackling life's complications, so I will work with you to determine measurable goals and achieve them.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Fayette counselor?
Before seeing your Fayette therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Fayette therapists here may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy.
Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?
Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Fayette licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Fayette counselor can be dependent on your process.
People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.
Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Fayette, Missouri can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Fayette has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
