I have 20 years experience working with a variety of issues, including depressed patients, PTSD (combat, domestic and other traumas) anxiety, aging, and cognitive problems resulting in difficulty communicating rationally and calmly. I have worked 5 years in substance abuse, worked with homeless severely mentally ill and nine and a half years working with service members and their families. My perspective is more long term. As a mother and a grandmother I tend to think beyond immediate consequences and impact of one's actions. My thought is that I need to know what you want therapy to do for you and we work together to find a path to your goal. I am less prescriptive than questioning and working to find out what fits you best. We may start with smaller goals to get you where you are going or you may have decided what you think will work best for you. Cooperation in therapy means that you can leave the therapeutic environment ready to steer your own course rather than advice giving which may cause you to second guess yourself. For therapy to be successful we must be guided by your goals and vision for yourself. If ever you feel we need a course correction I am ready and willing to offer treatment in line with your beliefs and insight. I am strengths based in my approach. You have gotten along this far because of the strength and skills you possess. Therapy will build on the strengths you already possess and add other skills to your strength inventory. When people are depressed and anxious or have other disturbances they tend to focus on "what's wrong with me" ignoring the fact that they have already lived through 100% of the challenges life has thrown their way. Let's find out what your strength inventory is and find new skills to move you on the path that you choose. Hello, My name is Cate. I've been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001. I have my Master's in Counseling from Webster University and have 20 years of experience in a variety of settings from a private hospital to community mental health center to a substance use treatment center. What I found was people have an instinct towards wellness when they are treated with dignity and respect. Each of us has a story to tell and generally want to move towards a positive outcome. It takes strength and determination to make change in one's life. It's been an important lesson that I've learned to honor the tools that have a brought a person to the point where that person is now and I'll meet you where you are and together look at new ways to achieve the goals you wish to accomplish, increase functioning and explore new perspectives in a safe, non-judgmental environment, with the understanding that you direct the experience. I use a client-centered approach, I'm versed in cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and narrative therapy. I work with teens and adults dealing with depression, stress, anxiety, substance use, life changes, grief issues, bipolar depression, ADHD, parenting, conflict/anger and relationship issues. I would be privileged to work with you.

I completed seminary and then added courses to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. I am a therapist with 30 years experience in working with clients with many issues., including stress, depression, grief, anger management, self esteem, relationship issues, I had a difficult childhood and worked with youth at a behavioral hospital. I also have worked in an outpatient setting with adults and teens. Clients relate well to me and begin healing in the process of being understood and better grasping their issues. My style is insight oriented, helping clients identify and develop ways to improve. I believe relationships need respect, good communication and a peaceful interaction to thrive. Relationships are a key to fulfillment, including a person's attitude toward themselves. When clients are able to better understand themselves and their goals, they find the counseling experience meaningful.

We all face challenges in life. Reaching out for help requires strength and courage, and as a therapist, it is important to me to provide an environment where the client can feel heard, validated and safe. My name is Gabby and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I will provide a supportive and compassionate environment that allows space to explore challenges, intense emotions, and trauma. With over 20 years of clinical experience, I provide support for clients living with depression, anxiety, trauma and substance use. I also address relationship issues, anger management and self-esteem . In additional to providing an environment to process emotions, I feel it is imperative to explore and develop new strategies for managing intense emotions. This allows for forward progress, by learning new skills to manage old behaviors and thought patterns. This encompass not only mental and emotional health ,but also overall wellness, including diet, exercise, sleep and self-care. I believe the client is the expert on their life and therefore my role as the therapist is to empower them to identify, utilize and build on their personal strengths. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I collaborate with clients to develop personal treatment plans. Utilizing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), I teach clients how to recognize the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors . I provide insight and encouragement as the client begins to challenge their thoughts, thus learning how to choose actions instead of continuing the cycle of reacting. Finally, I teach distress tolerance skills using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), including mindfulness, grounding skills and breathing techniques as a way to manage intense emotions. Taking the step to seek therapy is a sign of strength. My primary goal as the therapist is to promote and encourage change within clients that bring peace and balance back to their lives.

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Missouri Since 1992. I have worked in various settings to include private and state hospitals, and community mental health centers. With these settings, I have had the opportunity to work with chronic mental illness, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, gender identity issues, cultural issues, trauma, life transitions, abandonment, and attachment disorders. I have training in DBT, EMDR, Person Centered, and CBT. I believe the first time you have a session you begin the healing process. It is your therapy and you lead me where you need to go. I may need at times to help you explore more areas, but only when you are ready. I use a multi-sensory approach along with my other trainings, because words may not always express what needs to be understood. Together skills and insights will be explored that will be useful for your current issue and be able to translate to other concerns. I hope you decide to start your healing soon and I will be happy to join you in the experience.
