I believe everyone has a unique story and it is in sharing these stories that I can offer empathy and hope to my clients. I received my Masters of Arts in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling and my certification as a Play Therapist, and work extensively with adolescents, teens and young adults. My experience includes working with all ages and stages of divorce, co-parenting and step parenting relationships, grief and loss, anxiety, stress and depression, trauma, domestic violence and self harming behaviors. My work also includes assisting with behavioral, adjustment and attachment issues. With teens I have worked with self harm (non-suicidal), divorce of parents, adjustment disorder, depression, anxiety, handling expectations in a healthy way, understanding boundaries, among other things. I utilize therapy modalities and treatment approaches including client-focused, experiential, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapies. I am committed to my client and the therapeutic process of helping them achieve their goals and gain satisfaction and joy in all aspects of their lives.

I have worked in many different settings with several different populations. I have worked with offenders through DFS and prison/parole operations, substance abuse facilities, mental health, facilities, and co-occurring facilities addressing. I have been through some tough life changes and things have not always gone the way that I have hoped. These experiences have allowed me to grow as a person and a counselor because it has given me some insight to the emotions that clients face on a daily basis, It has allowed me to show more empathy for the client and their situation without them feeling that they are being judged.

Brianne Phillips
Welcome! My name is Brianne Phillips. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, and Louisiana, and hold the credential of a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. Over the past 17 years, I have spent my time as a social worker in various settings: in schools, in private practice, in a hospital, with youth in foster care, and with survivors of domestic violence. Even though the settings were all different, one thing stayed the same. Our success and challenges are influenced by our lived experiences and our perceptions of these experiences. I have helped people cope with change, parenting challenges, relationship stressors and conflicts, trauma, and managing the everyday stressors that go along with life in general. When I’m working with clients, I genuinely want to get to know you. Starting sessions with a new therapist can seem a bit intimidating. Making sure you feel heard and valued is important to me. I want you to know you’ve got someone in your corner. For me, learning about the different parts of your life is important as we embark on this journey. As a social worker, I believe in taking a holistic approach to therapy; looking at the big picture rather than one tiny segment. Once we see where you fit into the big picture and how your perceptions and experiences have shaped your behavior, we can begin to challenge your thought processes to change your thinking and/or past behaviors. We all know the saying, “If you continue to do the same thing, you’ll continue to get the same result.” I am confident that as a team, you and I can take on the challenges you’re facing, so you can try new ideas and begin to see positive results.

Jennifer Walsh
Hello ~ I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist in the state of Missouri, and have been providing therapeutic services for 5 years now. I have earned both a bachelor degree in elementary education and a masters degree in counseling through the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Having worked with children for over 19 years now, I specialize in supporting educators and parents with child related concerns in the area of social and emotional development. Through earning my degrees I gained a solid foundation of knowledge, my career experience working in education has provided countless opportunities for growth with each new experience, and raising my own seven sons (yes, all boys) has kept me quite humble. :) I have been reminded time and time again that we cannot predict life's outcomes thus causing life to feel frustrating, overwhelming, and even unsafe at times. I work with clients experiencing a wide range of emotions including anxiety, stress, and mild-depression due to relationship challenges, parenting issues, sudden life changes, or feeling at a low-point in one's own self-worth. My approach is person-centered placing a high regard on the therapeutic alliance built between myself and the client. I also use cognitive behavioral and solution based approaches when appropriate. Developing a treatment plan tailored to a client's unique needs and personal goals is an early step in the road to healing. As you are searching for the right counselor for you, it is my hope you feel a sense of pride in that you are already caring enough about your mental health to seek out support. I wish you well on your journey, and, of course, would be happy to hear from you!
