Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri with 6 years of experience in providing counseling and direct mental health to my clients. I have worked with clients from ages 6 to adults with a multitude of presenting issues such as developmental trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, PTSD, self-esteem and self-identity issues and neurodevelopmental disorders. I started off at St. Louis University where I got my bachelor's of Arts in Psychology. I worked in the work force for about 15 years, before going back and pursing my graduate degree in Counseling. I graduated from Missouri Baptist University where I got my Masters in Counseling. I have worked extensively with adolescents and adults that have experienced trauma, PTSD, anxiety and depression. My experience is varied and across many different settings, as I have provided group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy in residential treatment programs, community mental-health agencies, school settings and private practice settings. I believe that relationships are the true agent for change and I am currently working in a program that is relationship based. I also have experience working with family systems dealing with attachment and relationship issues. My main focus in therapy is to meet my client where they are at with acceptance and non-judgement and to use an approach that will work best for us as we work toward meeting your therapy goals. With my experience, I truly believe I can help families and adults heal their relationships and work through the struggles they face. I am here to support you through your journey.

Everyone calls me “Charlie.” It is a nickname I have had since high school. I have a Master of Science Degree; I have a Licensed Professional Counselor Certification and am a National Certified Counselor as well. I feel that counseling is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. When you are in a time of crisis, it is difficult to think rationally. A good counselor will help you navigate those choppy waters so that you can go on to live a richer life. I have studied a great deal about trauma. I have been on a Crisis Response team and worked with victims of natural disasters. I believe that I would be a good fit for you if you have issues in any of these areas. I have found that there is one main issue in life, “I’m Not Good Enough.” A wellspring of difficulties can erupt from this one thing. So, allow me to put my education and my life experiences to work for you. I believe that this is my gift. I want to share that with you. My treatment approach aims to help individuals develop coping skills, provide emotional support, encouragement, and feedback to help individuals address changes, challenges, and issues they are facing. Change and challenges are a part of life; however, sometimes, we need a little help getting through issues we are experiencing. I frequently draw from motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy to help clients set goals and overcome their challenges. I use a variety of methods and techniques to provide a personalized approach; using what is most helpful for each individual given the challenges he or she is facing. Through understanding and compassion, I help individuals resolve a wide variety of concerns, crisis, psychological issues, and personal changes. Together, we will work to find techniques and solutions that will be the most beneficial to you. I conduct 45-minute sessions, beginning on the hour and ending at a quarter till. A "No Show" is considered to be fifteen minutes past the hour. So, the next step is to hop onto my calendar and schedule your first appointment. We'll take it from there. Talk soon!

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Missouri Since 1992. I have worked in various settings to include private and state hospitals, and community mental health centers. With these settings, I have had the opportunity to work with chronic mental illness, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, gender identity issues, cultural issues, trauma, life transitions, abandonment, and attachment disorders. I have training in DBT, EMDR, Person Centered, and CBT. I believe the first time you have a session you begin the healing process. It is your therapy and you lead me where you need to go. I may need at times to help you explore more areas, but only when you are ready. I use a multi-sensory approach along with my other trainings, because words may not always express what needs to be understood. Together skills and insights will be explored that will be useful for your current issue and be able to translate to other concerns. I hope you decide to start your healing soon and I will be happy to join you in the experience.
