I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC-S) with 10 years of counseling and training experience, licensed in Mississippi. I have experience helping adults, couples, and families, from diverse backgrounds and with a wide variety of problems. However, the focus of my work is behavioral health and co-occurring mental health concerns and substance use problems. I am trained in a myriad of evidenced based techniques and adapt my approach to fit the needs of the individual with whom I am working. My passion is helping a person attain their personal goals and improve their quality of life. I tend to integrate person centered approaches, motivational enhancement, cognitive behavioral treatment, acceptance and commitment treatment, mindfulness practices, and meditation to achieve a tailored set of interventions for achieving significant and sustainable change. I am skilled in helping with mood problems, anxiety , relationship concerns, addictions, trauma and abuse, phase of life problems, vocational concerns, identity issues, and personality disorders. Together we may: 1) identify and challenge negative patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving; 2) learn to let go of shame, guilt, & anger associated with trauma or complicated grief; 3) replace old patterns with new patterns through developing healthy self-care practices; 4) cultivate a personal sense of purpose and connection to self and others. I strive to provide a safe and affirming environment for a person to explore and process their concerns.

My formal education has prepared me to counsel individual adults, adolescents, and children; groups; couples; parents; and families. I have completed specific course work in working with at-risk youth, LGBTQ population, individual with gender related issues, chemically dependent individuals, individuals/group in crisis situations, and clients with personality disorders. Currently, I hold a doctorate in professional counseling and a license of professional counseling. I currently work as a director of therapeutic service and student support service for a achievement school district in the Delta of Mississippi. Counseling Background I have worked with the following populations: Elderly (Caring Days, Community Counseling Services), Intellectually Disable (Community Counseling Services), At-risk youth children/adolescents with behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric issues (Diamond Grove Center), addicts, and college population. As previously stated, I offer individual, group, and family services to individual with personal, behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric issues. My theoretical orientation is Reality Therapy, which is cognitive based in its approach, due to my alignment with William Glasser perspective on human nature and behavior. His beliefs align with not helping people find defenses for their negative or inappropriate behaviors, but helping them acknowledge their behavior as being inappropriate or negative and then to learn how to act in a more logical and productive manner.

Life's journey can be exciting and fulfilling, as well as difficult and challenging. The path to wholeness is strewn with beautiful flowers and thorny weeds. As we take steps toward becoming an authentic, healthy person, we would do well to sometimes call on trustworthy helpers for their wisdom, knowledge, guidance, and support in facing formidable moments in our growth process. As a Licensed Professional Counselor for over twenty years, I seek to help my clients become empowered to successfully navigate through life's twists and turns. My experience and training have equipped me to assist clients in areas such as depression, anxiety, relationships, parenting, LGBTQ concerns, communication, grief, spirituality, infidelity, stress, and more. Through a mindful approach that is compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental, and well-informed, I partner with my clients to help them define and reach the goals they have for healthy living. Whether one is dealing with an issue such as the loss of a loved one, or seeking to develop a plan to build a life of integrity and joy, my clients' values and beliefs are always honored. No one person has all the answers. Your life is just that—yours. A good therapist will help their clients examine their wants, needs, and desires, including the possible outcomes, both positive and negative. A good therapist will sometimes challenge and question their clients’ thoughts and plans. But a good therapist will respect their clients’ autonomy and never impose their own values on their clients. Every person can have a life of healthy purpose, meaning, and fulfillment. My goal is to create a safe space within which my clients can change their lives in way that will lead to the most authentic and complete life possible.
