I am so glad that you are here and are taking the first step to improving your life and current situation. Let me tell you a little about myself and my practice. My name is Rachel Stuart. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Mississippi with five years of experience working in a community mental health center providing individual and group psychotherapy while coordinating a Senior Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program for residents in a nursing facility. After this position, I have now been working with Betterhelp to provide individual therapy services since 2017. I received both my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Mississippi College. I am also a National Board Certified Counselor. Most importantly, I am extremely dedicated and passionate about helping others find meaning and a way to transcend the pain that is inherit in this existence. Throughout my professional experience, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of individuals struggling with a variety of issues. I have a great deal of experience helping others overcome depression, stress and anxiety, grief and loss, relationship problems, trauma and abuse, difficult life transitions , and feelings of meaninglessness , isolation, and helplessness. I view therapy and life in general as being far more complex than the medical model and science can fully explain. I see people as far more than diagnoses and will never pigeonhole them into a theoretical model, nor will I force my world views on them or assume their experiences and emotional reactions are similar to my own. My focus is on meeting each person's unique set of needs and tailoring my approach to meet those needs. I use an integrative action oriented approach to therapy to help you focus on the issues that you would like to address in the present and your goals and expectations for the future. Together we may use a variety of methods to help you address relevant background issues, emotions, underlying thoughts and assumptions, and actions that are impacting your current situation. I utilize a humanistic approach and draw upon many of the practices of Solution Focused therapy, Narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy. Together we can remove the constraints of hopelessness and stagnation that you may be feeling and that you also have the power to deconstruct. My greatest joy is to be able to free people from a narrow understanding of their potentiality by perturbing change and helping them to identify overlooked themes, resources, strengths, and exceptions to their problems instead of conceptualizing their problems as fundamental character flaws or problems inherit in their biology. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me. I look forward to learning about you and taking this journey together towards self healing and growth.

15 years of experience as a mental health therapist

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of direct mental health therapy experience working with a range of populations and ages. I see clients with a variety of issues, including anxiety, post-traumatic stress, phobias, depression, low self-esteem, codependency, parenting problems, relationship challenges, work problems, and communication issues. I especially love working to resolve the effects of trauma on clients' lives. Traumatic memories can include big, life-threatening things like natural disasters and active shooters, but it can also be small things that stick in the memory banks, like the teacher who made an insensitive comment in front of the whole class. Those memories can get stuck and affect us later until they are fully processed and resolved. People's experiences are what make them who they are, and I love to hear about them. In the counseling setting, I work to get to know what makes each person unique. As clients identify their strengths, we work to build on those to help overcome mental health issues. It is exciting when clients experience moments of insight during or between sessions. I work to keep us focused on the goals that we discuss and agree on at the beginning of counseling. The methods I use include cognitive-behavioral, EMDR, solution-focused, and client centered, with an ecological approach. My Christian faith is important to me and my outlook on life. If a client wants that perspective included in therapy, I will include it. If not, I keep it to myself. The therapy session is always about mutual respect flowing between therapist and client. If you are interested in beginning a fascinating journey of self discovery leading to better mental and emotional health, I would love to hear from you. I look forward to working with you!

Welcome! My name is Maria, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Mississippi and Arizona with over 25 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have BA degree in Psychology and a MS degree in Clinical Psychology from Mississippi State University. I also have an Ed.S. degree in Educational and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. I have experience with both adults and adolescents. I have worked with an array of client populations and concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, substance abuse and recovery issues, trauma, self-esteem, bipolar, and schizophrenia. Life is often full of challenges, which ebbs and flows with each chapter of life. I am here to support, empower, and guide you on the journey that is uniquely yours, and one in which you are the author. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to support your self-discovery, dreams, and aspirations and to help you live your best life on your own terms. People seek counseling for a variety of reasons. I realize that some people may only need a sounding board and support from their counselor. Some people solely need the processing element from a counselor to increase their confidence in decision-making skills and make sense of life’s happenstances. While for others, it proves to be a safe, confidential space to vent, which proves cathartic in its own right. For some individuals, it may be candid advice, perspective, and goal-directed solutions to pressing problems. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific goals. I realize that counseling can seem intimidating for some, so I will work with a format and at pace with which you are most comfortable. My counseling style is down-to-earth, warm, and empathetic. I believe in meeting a person where they are in guiding them along their journey. I believe every person has intrinsic value and worth, and I treat everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion. I also favor a person-centered, individualized approach that embraces self-determination, empowerment, and resiliency. I value holistic care, which seeks to improve overall wellness and health. My approach is eclectic in nature and combines person-centered, strength-based, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, brief solution-focused, mindfulness, and reality therapy. Additionally, I may assign worksheets from time to time to promote introspection and insight. I applaud you for being here today and your quest to improve your overall well-being and happiness. It takes courage and strength to seek a more fulfilling life and to contemplate change. When you are ready to take that next step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you on your journey!

Hello! I have been a practicing social worker for over 30 years. I am licensed in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. I have many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families dealing with a range of issues in a variety of settings. Currently, I work primarily with teens and adults in their attempts to navigate challenging transitions. Life is full of transitions. These may include adjusting to college, beginning your first job, changing or losing a job, moving, getting married, welcoming and parenting a new baby, separating or divorcing, retiring, the passing of a loved one, or adjusting to life as an immigrant or ex-pat. Navigating these transitions -- even when they are joyful -- can be stressful and sometimes lead to anxiety and depression. I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist as I utilize several different approaches such as solution-focused brief therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy. Initially, I’ll conduct an assessment and based on the outcome will select approaches that are best for you. Research has shown that tailoring therapy to clients can enhance their treatment outcomes. By working together, I can assist you in developing or strengthening effective coping skills or problem-solving strategies that will better help you in the future. I have flexible hours to accommodate your work schedule. I appreciate your effort in reaching out and encourage you to contact me with any questions you might have. I look forward to us possibly working together.

Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 38865 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site. How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Jumpertown counselor?

Before seeing your Jumpertown therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the therapy process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, let them know if you have any concerns about therapy or feel unsure about what to talk about. They may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy in Jumpertown.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what therapy entails. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback and advice from a therapist. A Jumpertown licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find through therapy with a Jumpertown counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Jumpertown, Mississippi can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Jumpertown has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online therapy to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
