I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the States of Montana and Kentucky. I have been working with individuals and families for 15 years on a wide variety of concerns ranging from depression, anxiety, stress management, grief and loss, care-giving stress, dealing with a major medical diagnosis and life transitions. I have given many presentations nationally on coping with cancer as a young adult, grief and loss and dealing with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. My counseling approach is dynamic and interactive. I approach areas of concerns with a strengths based approach in order to help clients identify their goals and find ways within themselves to deal with difficult emotions. I also believe that change is possible and we are all capable of change with the right set of support and tools. I use a variety of cognitive and dialectical behavioral interventions along with mindfulness skills to help round out your experiencing and build up coping skills and achieve your goals. In my free time I like to camp and hike with my family in Montana and all over the Pacific Northwest and spend time with extended family in Kentucky. I also practice Yoga and enjoy baking and cooking and swimming with my kids. I look forward to speaking with you and determining how I can help you achieve your goals and cope with difficult emotions.

Jadin Van Steenvort
Hello, I wanted to take this time to introduce myself to you and tell you somethings about by clinical approach and background. In 2010 I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from University of Phoenix located in Salt Lake City Utah and returned to Montana shortly thereafter. In my professional career I have worked with a wide range of ages from three years old to eighty-three while working in outpatient, in patient clinics as well as doing therapy in the local detention center. When working with clients I draw from a large range of person-centered modalities with the underling modality being Brief Solution Focused therapy. What draws me to this modality above all others is the alignment of core belief of the client is their own expert in their life the therapist is just a expert in the process of getting the answers the client is unable to find. Other components of Brief Solution Focused Therapy that I find congruent with my therapeutic beliefs are that the interventions are both focused on seeking positive solutions to the issues as well as building upon clients existing strengths rather than focusing on perceived failures negative aspects of clients life. This is important because all too often focusing on negative will bring more negative issues rather then building upon the strengths. It is also important to note that the therapeutic relationship is the utmost importance between a therapist and a client. Research as shown that as long as the clinician is utilizing researched based clinical modalities in their therapeutic practice, clinical outcomes are fairly similar. What is the most telling component in experiencing positive clinical outcomes from the therapeutic process is the relationship between the therapist and client. This also means that not all clinicians meet the needs of their clients and if this is the case then it is the duty of the therapist to find a more suitable clinician for the client. I look forward to working with you Jadin Van Steenvort MS. LCPC, CMHP

I received my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in Military and Veterans Affairs. As a veteran myself, I understand the importance of supporting our service members. I have a fairly direct and up front approach as I would rather ask a question directly than assume things are a certain way. I am able to do this while maintaining a warm, nonjudgmental approach with clients. I believe that no one is "broken" and needs to be "fixed" as I hear so many clients say, but that every person is operating in their environment the best way they know how with the tools they have. I would like to be able to go through the journey with you of creating the best quality of life possible. I am able to help clients with co-occurring disorders, substance use, PTSD, depression, anxiety, Bipolar, child abuse and neglect, communication, anger management, and other diagnosis or life stressors, but have a primary focus in trauma and military affairs. I utilize a client centered, strengths based, solution-focused approach to meet the client where they are. I also utilize evidenced based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I am certified in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), MRT (moral reconation therapy), trauma-focused CBT, and trauma narratives. I will respond to messages within 24 hours Monday through Friday, and will do my best to accommodate you for scheduling live sessions but currently have limited availability in the evenings and some weekends.
