Hello, I am Jason! I believe my skills best match with people struggling adjusting, encountering stress or anxiety, needing encouragement, dealing with grief, or experiencing some depression. My approach is to build a trusting, honest relationship with you. I want to provide you compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy while also being honest and real with you. I use an eclectic approach, primarily a mix of person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and REBT. I also use a lot of encouragement and support. I provide links to articles and videos, personal feedback, and various worksheets to help give you insight, and build new skills. Although my focus is on our relationship and empathy, I am future-thinking. I think this helps with troubleshooting and goal-setting. Research has shown that having a solid therapeutic relationship often is supportive of a positive therapeutic outcome. If something isn’t working, let’s have a conversation about it. I can be flexible. I have many years of experience working with all kinds of people with different kinds of struggles. I'm licensed in Montana but now live on the East Coast. I work a day job and communicate with my clients primarily in the evenings. That is also when I am available for appointments, usually between 7 and 10 PM EST. I typically do 1-hour appointments. I understand if that does not fit your schedule. I typically respond sooner than 24 hours. For this reason, it’s pretty challenging for me to respond to urgent messages. I am available by chat, phone, or video sessions. Of course, you can message me any time that works for you! By partnering with me, I believe I can instill hope, restore confidence, and support you as you make the changes necessary to get you where you want to be. Just like having a gym membership doesn't make you fit, having a subscription here won't help you by itself. This will take work. It will take communication. Be an active participant in your mental health. You’re welcome to write messages or make appropriate appointments that fit your life’s routine. This is your service to use as you see fit. I look forward to working with you. Thank you for trusting me. You can do this, and I can help.

I am a licensed counselor in both Montana and Colorado. I graduated from Montana State University in 2008 with a masters degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. I have been providing therapy services for over 10 years and have experience in multiple settings. While much of my experience has been with kids and young adults, I also have a great deal of experience in family therapy, as well as providing parents support and coaching through difficult situations. I also have a great deal of experience in helping those going through transitions including, but not limited to, grief and loss, divorce, changes in careers, and children going off to college. I am also experienced in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and anger management issues. I also have a background in working with survivors of abuse and other traumatic events. My counseling style is very open, meeting people where they are at. Therapy can be very difficult and people entering therapy may feel very vulnerable. Thus, I like to try to help my clients feel comfortable and supported throughout the process. Compassion and sensitivity are key to my counseling style and I strive to ensure that my clients feel accepted throughout the counseling process. My counseling approach is a combination of cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, person-centered, and reality-based therapy. I often adjust my counseling style to fit each individual, their therapy goals, and current needs. It takes a great deal of bravery to engage in the self-exploration process and make the changes needed to become the best version of you that you can be. If you are ready to start this process, I would love to be able to support and assist you in your journey to self-discovery, realization, and resiliency.

Hello, I wanted to take this time to introduce myself to you and tell you somethings about by clinical approach and background. In 2010 I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from University of Phoenix located in Salt Lake City Utah and returned to Montana shortly thereafter. In my professional career I have worked with a wide range of ages from three years old to eighty-three while working in outpatient, in patient clinics as well as doing therapy in the local detention center. When working with clients I draw from a large range of person-centered modalities with the underling modality being Brief Solution Focused therapy. What draws me to this modality above all others is the alignment of core belief of the client is their own expert in their life the therapist is just a expert in the process of getting the answers the client is unable to find. Other components of Brief Solution Focused Therapy that I find congruent with my therapeutic beliefs are that the interventions are both focused on seeking positive solutions to the issues as well as building upon clients existing strengths rather than focusing on perceived failures negative aspects of clients life. This is important because all too often focusing on negative will bring more negative issues rather then building upon the strengths. It is also important to note that the therapeutic relationship is the utmost importance between a therapist and a client. Research as shown that as long as the clinician is utilizing researched based clinical modalities in their therapeutic practice, clinical outcomes are fairly similar. What is the most telling component in experiencing positive clinical outcomes from the therapeutic process is the relationship between the therapist and client. This also means that not all clinicians meet the needs of their clients and if this is the case then it is the duty of the therapist to find a more suitable clinician for the client. I look forward to working with you Jadin Van Steenvort MS. LCPC, CMHP

Welcome!! My name is Shannon LaTray, and I am a licensed clinical counseling professional in Montana, Utah, Maine, the District of Columbia, Oregon, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. I have experience working therapeutically with youth, teens, adults, and families regarding mental health and addiction issues. My approach to therapy is holistic and patient-centered, focusing on treating the whole person rather than just specific symptoms. I believe in addressing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of a person's life to promote overall well-being. I also prioritize the individual needs and preferences of each patient, tailoring the therapy experience to their unique circumstances and goals. This dynamic approach allows for a more personalized and effective therapeutic experience. Additionally, I am a certified Gracious Space Trainer. My Approach... In my work, I commonly use a combination of several theoretical approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and humanistic therapy. I find that integrating elements from these different approaches allows me to address a wide range of client needs and preferences. CBT helps to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. Psychodynamic therapy explores unconscious processes and past experiences, and humanistic therapy emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and the client's subjective experience. By drawing from these different theoretical approaches, I strive to provide comprehensive and effective therapy tailored to each individual. My Focus... I typically work with a diverse range of clients, including individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns. I have a strong background in helping clients navigate divorce and relationship challenges, career changes, and significant life adjustments individually and as couples. Overall, I am committed to supporting and guiding clients facing various challenges. My Communication Style... I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment for my clients. I want my clients to feel safe, supported, and heard during our sessions. I aim to foster an atmosphere of trust and openness where clients feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions. Working with me, clients often describe feeling understood, validated, and empowered to work through their challenges. I seek to provide a sense of calm and reassurance while also encouraging growth and self-discovery. In addition, I challenge clients to consider alternative perspectives and mindsets and to actively participate in finding solutions to their identified concerns. I believe in empowering clients to explore different ways of thinking and to take an active role in their own journey toward resolution and personal growth. By fostering a collaborative approach, I aim to help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their situations while working towards positive outcomes. My journey to Mental Healthcare... My counseling journey has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. I have had the privilege of working with diverse clients, each with their own unique experiences and challenges. Reflecting on my 20-year journey in mental healthcare, including over 8.5 years as a licensed professional, I value the diverse experiences I have gained. From implementing a mental health intake program in a men’s state prison to promoting a patient-centered care model at the Montana State Hospital, I have learned the significance of effective systems and teamwork. At a residential treatment facility for substance abuse, I developed a program that encouraged shared experiences and empowerment among participants and a team centered approach to support staff. I have supported clients aged 2 to 82, focusing on building meaningful connections through individual sessions, couples counseling, and group therapy. I focus on building deep, meaningful connections that uplift and empower individuals as they navigate their paths toward healing and wellness. I am excited about the opportunities ahead to continue fostering growth and resilience in those I serve. My goals for you... When approaching goal setting with my clients, I believe in taking a collaborative and client-centered approach. I work with my clients to identify their individual needs, values, and aspirations. Together, we establish realistic, measurable, and meaningful goals that align with their personal growth and well-being. I encourage clients to participate actively in the goal-setting process, ensuring that their aspirations and desires are at the forefront. Additionally, I support clients in breaking down larger goals into manageable steps, providing them with the tools and guidance needed to track their progress and celebrate their achievements along the way. My first session with you... During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where they are encouraged to share their concerns, experiences, and goals. I aim to establish a strong rapport with clients, actively listen to their stories, and gain a thorough understanding of their unique perspectives and needs. Additionally, I provide an overview of the counseling process, discuss confidentiality and the client-counselor relationship, and answer any questions or concerns the client may have. Together, we begin the process of exploring their challenges, identifying goals, and laying the foundation for our work together. Overall, clients can expect a compassionate and collaborative approach as we embark on their journey towards growth and healing.

I am a licensed clinical social worker/therapist licensed in the states of Idaho, Montana, and Arkansas. I have 7 years of licensed experience and many years prior of serving people in different capacities. The majority of my licensed experience has been within a hospital setting for adults and adolescents with severe mental health issues. I have seen firsthand the incredible change that often occurs with a person given the opportunity to tell his/her/their story, be genuinely listened to, and be guided to the innate wisdom to wellness that already resides within. For the last two years, I have also been leading a group at my local library to teach mental health wellness skills to community members and providing a setting for the members to practice these new wellness skills. I really enjoy teaching skills that can be applied to all sorts of situations in life, no matter what your story or circumstances. My counseling style is based on being present with a client, not just hearing, but truly listening and being a witness to another. I will want to know what exactly a client wants to learn or resolve and I will provide guidance and insight and teach skills accordingly. I will also introduce ideas I consider foundational to wellness, including mindfulness, really leaning in and feeling our emotions, centeredness and grounding, self-love, the difference between surviving skills and thriving skills, and exploring beliefs and how they create our life stories. My approach combines client-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness therapy as we weave together practical behavioral approaches with deep insights into why we are the way we are and how this can transform. I am also a Certified Emotion Code Practitioner (CECP). The Emotion Code is a form of energy healing. Its premise is that we can trapped unprocessed emotions in as a "stuck" frequency in our energy bodies. As a practitioner, I can assist you in identifying trapped emotions, discovering when they were trapped and in response to what event, and then releasing the stuck energy with intention. You can learn more at Discover Healing (discoverhealing.com). You can view my certification at https://discoverhealing.com/certified-practitioners/. The BetterHelp platform offers you a great opportunity to try out an energy healing modality. I have the flexibility to combine Emotion Code work with a more traditional talk therapy session, or focus solely on Emotion Code one day and talk therapy another day. Give it a try! It takes courage to choose an opportunity for growth and change. I am here to join you on such a journey.
