First of all, I am really glad you found your way here. It takes courage and strength to seek out support and to ask for help. You are in a great place to begin this journey. We all go through ups and downs throughout life. There is beauty and there is pain. There are times we all need a little support to get through the tougher times. When I think about why I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist over 13 years ago, I remember having a strong desire to walk alongside other human beings as they overcome obstacles and unlock their full potential. I have had the privilege of working with families, couples, individuals, parents, children ages 0-18 and their parents, and adults. Areas I have helped people address include, but are not limited to: parenting issues, pre-natal mental health and peri-natal mental health, foster care, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, challenges stemming from family of origin, domestic violence, women's issues, sexual assault, relationship issues, life stage challenges, attention and focus challenges, challenges related to Autism, work/life balance, anxiety, depression, stress, chronic illness, conflict resolution, communication struggles. I have a background in child development and family relations, human development and have worked in daycare settings, foster care, school settings, and with those who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities. My goals are to meet you where you are, listen to you, and to understand what you are wanting to accomplish from our time together. I utilize several models of therapy that include Solution-Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I have learned a lot about trauma and its impact on us. I am a rostered Child-Parent Psychotherapy provider, which focuses on attachment, parenting strategies, and overcoming traumatic experiences. We will work together to determine what your goals are and identify what fits best for you so that you are able to achieve the goals you set. I believe counseling cannot be successful without honesty, openness to change, dedication, hard work, and strength. People come to counseling for many reasons, but most people seek counseling because they want a “change” in their life. Please keep in mind that this “change” may, at times, be challenging, difficult, and possibly painful. However, the goal should always be to bring about some positive change within you. Therapy should provide a safe place to explore behaviors, thoughts, and feelings about yourself and others in your life and allow you the opportunity to practice new ways of thinking and/or interacting in a safe environment before utilizing these skills in the “real world.”

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who has been in the helping profession for over 18 years. I received my licenses to practice in 2011 prior to that I was a case manager for at risk youth ad individuals with developmental disabilities. I have always enjoyed helping people realize their best self. My personal theoretical orientation to counseling is an integrative approach based on person-centered view that the relationship between the counselor and client is important for healthy change. I will try to enable the client to become more fully and creatively alive and to become free from the blocks and unfinished business that may diminish satisfaction, fulfillment, and growth, and to experiment with new ways of being. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is an effective approach for many clients. I also believe that a Cognitive (thought process) approach coupled with behavior changes is effective for many clients. I also acknowledge the importance of the client’s spiritual orientation and incorporate their belief system as a part of the therapeutic process. I am always striving to be my best self and I enjoy assisting others in discovering the positional that they have within. We have the ability to have total wellness, I want to assist you in attaining total wellness. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a certified person centered practitioner (person centered thinking trainer and mentor trainer) with more than 26 years of experience in the field. I have worked with people experiencing a wide range of concerns including grief, loss, end-of-life planning, anxiety, stress, coping, trauma, and improving self-care (particularly for caregivers). I use mindfulness therapy and person centered skills and find Qi Gong and Yogic breathing as well as guided meditation to be beneficial techniques to build into my work.
