Welcome! My name is Pam, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, in North Carolina. I have over 10 years of experience in mental health, including eight years in outpatient therapy. I work primarily from the perspective of cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapies, but also incorporate other techniques such as mindfulness, skill-building, and trauma-based interventions. I believe strongly in the validation of clients’ feelings and experiences, to help remove stigma and shame. I will meet you where you are, free of judgement, and with full support for whatever goals you wish to pursue. I believe that with support, clients can be empowered to make difficult decisions and take charge of their own growth. While some decisions we make may not result in the most desired outcomes, I believe that everybody is just doing the best they can. I believe that you are the expert and author of your own life story, and the answers you need will come from within. I am a very direct person, known for my honesty and “cut-to-the-chase” attitude. I avoid buzzwords and clinical language most of the time, except for the purposes of educating the client, so that they can make fully-informed choices. In our sessions, I want you to feel relaxed, at ease, and open to sharing your honest self. I want our time together to be productive, but yet feel as comfortable as a chat between friends. Over my years of practice, clients have described me as “relatable,” “trusted,” and “real.” I am comfortable and supportive of diverse needs and lifestyles. While I make every effort to be “culturally competent,” I appreciate listening to clients tell their own stories. I share my home with my husband and dog. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, traveling, attending outdoor music festivals, and getting my money’s worth from streaming television.

Starting or re-starting therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming – it takes courage to look at how you’re feeling or what you’re going through and decide to reach out to a therapist who can walk with you through challenging emotions, relationship dynamics, life changes, and personal goals. Maybe you’re not quite sure where to start, but you know you would like to explore what you’re feeling, your identity, or ways to continue to grow. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, I seek to create a safe, respectful space to embrace this vulnerable work. I believe our identities are shaped by our thoughts, feelings, relationships, trauma (from acute to generational), and systemic factors that impact our wellbeing. We carry the weight of our past and messages we receive in the words and actions of others every day. I will be a therapist who helps you examine your experiences, thoughts, and feelings in the context of relationships and society to understand yourself as you are and as you want to become. It is normal when doing this inner work to feel sadness, shame, or fear. Together, we can identify diverse coping skills rooted in cognitive, behavioral, dialectical, and emotion-focused therapies as we encounter these emotions. My goal as your therapist is to be present for you, to help you feel seen, heard, and recognize your inherent dignity and self-worth. My clinical areas of specialty are depression, anxiety, healing from trauma, burnout, identity development, chronic illness, and communication skills. My therapy style is warm, empathetic, client-centered, and trauma informed. My approach as a therapist echoes Robert Frost when he said, “The best way out is always through.” In my spare time, I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts and a wide range of music, watercolor, crochet, reading, the outdoors, and learning to cook new recipes. It is a privilege to connect with you and start this meaningful work.

Greetings! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, in the state of North Carolina. I have been a social worker for 8 years, and have worked with a wide variety of people from different walks of life. I graduated with my Bachelors in Social Work from Western Carolina University in 2014, and my Masters in Social Work from University of New England in 2017. I currently reside in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina, with my wife, child, and three dogs. Life shows up, and when it does, you never have to face it alone. Spending time to build rapport is crucial, as it creates trust and feelings of safety. Most of my experience is working with people who are struggling with substance abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, and LBGTQ+ issues. I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, and be able to work through life’s challenges without fear of judgment. I am available during business hours, and have some flexibility with weekends. I am willing to interact with you on any platform that most suites your needs. I do feel that video sessions are most beneficial, in order to get to know one another better. I would be honored to walk with you through your journey of healing.
