Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) and I have been working in the counseling field since 2013. I started my practice in a community mental health agency in the state of North Carolina, gaining perspective and understanding how poverty, addiction, and trauma, can truly impact, both the individual and a family system. I have worked with individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, family issues, stress, trauma, and overall difficulties in life. I would describe my approach as warm, empathetic, and goal-oriented. I use a person-centered approach, meeting the client were they are, while also utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. My goal is to help you help yourself be your best person. I truly believe each person is doing the best they can with what they've been given in life and sometimes, we all could use a little help to make sure we're being our best selves. My goal is to help you feel empowered to find the best version of yourself. I earned my Bachelors Degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Psychology with a focus on Human Development and Family Studies. I went on to earn my Masters Degree from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, North Carolina in Marriage and Family Therapy. I look forward to working with you. Let's chat! My schedule can also be flexible to what is currently shown.

Hello. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Master’s of Science in Counselor Education in 2013. I completed my undergraduate studies in Family and Community Services, with a split concentration in psychology and special education. I also have an Autism add-on certificate. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and member of the NBCC. I have resided in North Carolina all my life and enjoy the beaches, mountains, and in between. I have been working in mental health since 2003 in a variety of settings, including mental health agencies, in-home services, school settings, private practice, and residential and group homes. I have worked with individuals, helping them overcome issues such as anxiety, depression, loss and grief, life transitions, past-trauma, substance abuse, negative habits, interpersonal relationship problems, family stressors, parental concerns, and executive functioning. As a professional counselor, I prefer to provide a trauma-informed eclectic and integrated approach to counseling services based on the needs of the individual. The theoretic background that I most often utilize is an Integrated Approach of Solution-Focused Therapy with an accommodative integration of additional theories, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Reality Therapy. I like to assign out-of-therapy “homework” and encourage one to monitor progress towards goals. In therapy, we will likely identify stressors and triggers, apply positive coping skills and identify negative coping skills, address family patterns and life scripts or working models, and practice exercising mindfulness and building reflective capacity. I look forward to helping you achieve your happiness.

I am licensed in North Carolina with 30 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, family conflicts, & parenting issues. My approach to therapy is simple. Visualize getting into your car or whatever it is you drive. To get where you are going you look out the windshield. You use the rear view mirror as needed but you don't drive looking backwards. You drive by having vision and a plan to get where you're going. The therapy process is very similar. Teaching ourselves to live life looking forward and having a plan is how we move forward in life. We learn from the past. We see patterns and trends and use this information to make adjustments, but we live by having a vision for ourselves, finding purpose and in the moment of choice, exercise integrity to our core fundamental beliefs/values. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
