LaShica Hemingway
Hi, I'm LaShica and I'm very excited that you are reaching out to take time for yourself. Counseling is a great form of personal care. I would like to tell you a little about myself. I currently live in Charlotte, NC but I'm originally from Marion, SC. I am married with 2 kids. I love lifting weights, playing softball, and running. I have over 10 years of experience in counseling adults with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse problems. I have experience working with young adults in transitional housing providing therapeutic individual and group counseling. I have worked with families providing individual and family counseling in the clinical and home setting. My approach to therapy comes from an eclectic base with a strong focus on cognitive-behavioral and person centered therapy. I believe that a person should be able to make choices about their future and should be given all available resources to make that informed choice. I look forward to working with you in the future.

My counseling style is supportive and encouraging, I believe is meeting my clients where they are with what they want to work on and having them lead. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and strengths based. Each person is an individual and the treatment should be reflective of that. Everyone should be leading the life that they want to lead and I am here to assist you with getting there. I look forward to working with you.

Jennifer Metzger
Hello, my name is Jenny and I am a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina providing therapy through Better Help. I'm so glad you have decided to explore therapy. I completed a BA in Psychology from NCCU and earned my Master of Social Work at NC State. For many years, I have partnered with countless individuals in my work at local hospitals and various outpatient settings to help them process their feelings and move forward with a healthier mindset. My overall message has always been, ' Go where you're celebrated, not where you're tolerated!' I believe in actively listening to understand the stressors, thoughts, feelings, and values of my clients so I can reflect their resilient strength and increase their awareness. No matter who we are, when we're confronted with problems it's helpful to have reflection from someone who is compassionate, has personal and professional experience, is educated and unbiased. But ultimately, I believe we're healthiest when we can become confident in knowing ourselves best with or without affirmation from others. I employ a variety of strategies to help you re-frame the challenges of your life and navigate the trauma and loss. I am adept at solution-focused brief therapy. My foundation is built on cognitive and dialectical behavior therapy approaches. In essence, if you change the way you think, you can change the way you behave. I am grateful to provide therapy and would be honored to assist you .

Sarah Roe
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 30 years of experience in the Behavioral Health field. Over the years I have worked in many different settings ranging from Community Mental Health centers to private practice. I have worked with a wide variety of client populations and issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, codependency, addictions, abuse/trauma, anger management, stress management and many others. I am trained in best practice models including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing and Wellness Management and Recovery to name a few. However, no matter how well trained and experienced I am, it means nothing if I am unable to empathically connect with my clients. This begins by recognizing and honoring the courage it takes to enter therapy and "bare your soul" to a complete stranger. I am naturally empathic and genuinely interested in others which I use to foster an environment in which my clients feel safe, understood and accepted. As a therapist I adhere to certain guiding principles such as the following: Each client is doing the best they know how. The problem is not that there is something wrong with them - it is that they simply are not aware of more effective ways to navigate life's issues or they lack the skills needed to do so; What is effective for one person, is not necessarily effective for another; Each person's solution lies within them and it is my responsibility to help them find it; and none of us received a "How to live life" handbook - Life is hard and messy and this means that none of us have all the answers including me! And so I view therapy in many ways as a collaborative process in which we work together to find the best ways forward. I don't see myself so much as an "expert", but rather as a guide imbued with knowledge and skills that can help a client find their own path to healing, health and recovery.
