Your life can feel like a blanket stitched together. When it’s stitched together tightly, you feel as if you're safe and warm. However, life problems and mental health issues can make your blanket tear apart or be so thin it doesn't help you sleep at night. A counselor based in Elizabeth can help.
Elizabeth’s growth was mostly due to a sewing machine company coming to town. A counselor can be your highly efficient sewing machine who helps you put together your life. Speak to a counselor and see what they can do for you.

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I am dedicated to the supporting the well-being of my clients from a Christian perspective, though I welcome all who seek counseling, regardless of religious background. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or parenting/marital troubles, I provide a safe place for you to come individually, as a family, or as a couple. While traditional therapy focuses more on the individual, MFT examines how an individual’s behavior affects both the individual and their relationship as part of a couple or family. The theory behind MFT is that regardless of whether a problem appears to be within an individual or within a family, getting other family members involved in the therapeutic process will result in more effective solutions. MFT is goal-oriented and works toward an established end result. In recent years, MFT practitioners and groups have called for expanded approaches to traditional MFT training that incorporate more “real world” practices to integrate other therapies and become more inclusive of non-heterosexual couples and families. I would address the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect not only individual family members, but also relationships between family members and the family unit as a whole. As such, treatment is usually divided between time spent on individual therapy and time spent on couple therapy, family therapy, or both, if necessary.

I am a mental health professional practicing for the past 14 years. I have a vast educational background with a masters degree in genetics and computer science. I wasn't satisfied with my work and felt that I can only satisfy myself if I help others. Then I pursued a master's degree in psychology and further went for my PHD. This profession brings satisfaction for me because i get to interact with people and feel that I am making a difference in people's lives. My goal in life is to touch people's hearts in the worst of their times and bring out the best for them. I feel happy and satisfied when I see my clients grow. I put all my efforts into helping my clients reach their potential in personal growth and empower them. I don't believe in boundaries such as race, culture and religion. I feel equally empathetic for all human beings and want the best for everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and congratulations on taking this step in self-care! Starting therapy can seem scary and intimidating, hopefully, soon, you'll understand how beneficial it can be. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing for approximately 23 years. After receiving my BA in Psychology from Ithaca College, I worked in a psychiatric hospital with all age groups, doing psychological testing, co-leading group therapy, and assisting in the intake process for new patients. I then earned my Masters in Social Work at Adelphi University and worked in the New York City Early Intervention Program. As much as I loved working with this population, I knew I needed to pursue my long-time interest of doing clinical psychotherapy. This led me to my work in community mental health organizations in New York, then New Jersey. In these environments, I was able to work with clients of all ages, presenting with a wide variety of concerns. I ultimately landed at my current position as a Clinical Director of a small, therapeutic school for grades 6-12 in Central New Jersey. Thanks to the clinical experiences I've had, I'm comfortable and familiar with many presenting problems including: Anxiety, Social/School Anxiety and Avoidance, OCD, Depression, Bipolar Disorders, Eating Disorders, those questioning Gender Identity, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Personality Disorders, self-injurious behaviors as well as suicidal ideation, Anger Management, and PTSD. I'm a firm believer that one approach does NOT fit all! After getting to know my clients and understanding their goals, I will incorporate different treatment modalities to fit their needs. People are complex; their needs are constantly changing, I see my role as being a flexible, non-judgemental, empathetic listener who will help my clients feel empowered and confident in their strengths and abilities. Please note that I typically answer messages/emails in the afternoons through approximately 7pm. I am not available on the weekends. I look forward to starting your journey with you!
