I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience helping people with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-harm, disordered eating, OCD, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and challenging life transitions. Some of my experience has been focused on helping people who have an unhealthy relationship with food overcome unhealthy eating behaviors and feel at home in their bodies. My counseling style is non-judgmental, compassionate, and based on my belief that each person is unique and served best by an individualized approach in helping them to achieve their goals. My integrative approach combines elements of several therapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution focused therapy. I like to get feedback from the individuals with whom I work in order to better tailor the therapy experience to their specific needs and to ensure that they are benefiting from our interactions. If you are feeling stuck and overwhelmed, I can help you find tools that will enable you to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. It is one of my highest priorities that you feel empowered and supported on your journey from surviving to thriving. Change is possible and you don't have to do it alone. I look forward to working with you!

Greetings, Its my guess that I have as much experience as any counselor alive today. Counseling is one of the most common & natural things that people do with each other. Counseling goes on almost all the time. Wherever humans are, there is counseling going on. In fact, more people need to counsel more people for a saner world. Everyday counseling is useful, but for more intricate & difficult problems, people need counseling from someone who is experienced and capable of navigating clarity out of confusion. My success in helping other is born of focus in three areas. I've taught Psychology since age 24 (until presently), I have engaged in clinical counseling since I was 30 and I have a legal background (Law School & Law Clerk) since age 33. I have been the director of several Behavioral Health & Substance Abuse clinics. I've specialized in treating sex offenders and anger management programs. I've been a devoted to Rational-Emotive Therapy (and its variations), however I long ago characterized my clinical philosophy as an Existentialist. I practice brief therapy techniques that does not waist time or money. Thank you for your consideration. Prof. Michael A. Davis, BCPC,LPC

Sarah DuVall Murray
Hello, my name is Sarah, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Jersey. As a therapist I aim to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space in which individuals can seek help in understanding issues they are facing in order to guide them towards healthy, more balanced functioning. Grounded in a respect for each person’s unique life perspective and choices, I listen closely with a goal of working collaboratively to address individual therapeutic needs. I believe that change and growth take place in the context of the authentic relationship between client and therapist, which is based upon acceptance, compassion, and care. Additionally, I believe that distress is a part of life, and rather than having the unrealistic goal of eliminating distress, I strive to help individuals tolerate, accept, and find meaning in struggle. I treat adults coping with depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship issues, and grief using a variety of treatment approaches based on the client’s needs, to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) among others. I draw on Eastern philosophy in my practice and like to incorporate an element of psychoeducation by sharing articles, books, or other resources when applicable. I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. As a clinician I have provided both outpatient and inpatient treatment, worked in psychiatric emergency services, and got my start in community mental health working with seriously mentally ill adults.

Over the 20 years I have been working with individuals providing services, I have found therapy is about facilitating conversations to help someone build self-awareness and healthier relationships with oneself and others. The experience of watching an individual grow beyond their current mindset of sadness, depression, feelings of hopelessness or unworthiness into an individual who truly knows and believes in their personal value is why I love therapy. I have experience working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, as well as survivors of domestic violence. I have also supervised a number of therapists and direct care providers so I have first-hand experience in helping caregivers be successful while also practicing good self-care strategies. Clients often describe me as easy to talk to, down to earth, and compassionate. I have a great sense of humor and an open mind which allows me to quickly connect with others and create a safe therapeutic environment. My natural positive energy helps my clients improve their lives by developing better cognitive and emotional skills. I understand that the idea of starting therapy can be full of anxiety – after all, you are making a decision to start a new path for yourself! Change – even positive change – can be stressful. However, I am glad that you are feeling empowered to take your first step towards personal growth with me. I am looking forward to working together!
