I believe that changes take place through healing relationships. My job as your counselor is to listen and understand what you are going through and what changes you are seeking. I offer to hold hope for you when times are dark or you feel lost or confused and to share in your progress too! I work from a person centered approach and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Attachment Based Perspective to help you learn and grow and make the changes you want to make. I also work with people who have been through a traumatic event and help them go from feeling like a victim and being afraid to learning how to live with it and experiencing growth. I work individual all of all ages from 3 to 100! I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology and have been practicing since 2007. I also have a heart for First Responders and have experience with that population. I have experience working in a wide variety of settings with people of all ages and requests for help in a wide range of things. I'd like to help you find your purpose in life and have deeper more meaningful relationships. Some of the issues that I help with include trauma, loss of a pregnancy, loss due to suicide, adjusting as a widow(er), adjusting to moves due across country, loss of independence due to aging, and response to tragedy such as a sudden loss of life in the family. and healing from physical and sexual abuse or domestic violence. Dr. Stephanie Ferguson
I am licensed in New Mexico with 5 years of professional work experience helping my clients discover and leverage their strengths while addressing identified challenges. I have experience in helping clients with motivation, anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem and confidence, relationship issues, parenting, career and education challenges, coping with life changes, and life coaching. My passion is helping others recognize and reach their potential. For the last 30 years, I have done that through my work in education. However, since earning my Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree, I have been working in my rural community to provide much-needed mental health services. I was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania...if you've never had the pleasure of visiting the area, watch the movie Witness with Harrison Ford. Quite a bit of it was shot in my hometown. Of course, like many people, I did not appreciate the uniqueness of my upbringing while growing up there. As a military wife, I have lived in quite a few places across the country and do my best to bloom wherever I am planted! I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I take an eclectic approach to counseling--getting to know my clients and meeting them where they are. Then, drawing from multiple therapy approaches, we collaboratively develop a plan to meet those needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. If you are ready, I am here to support you in that process. I look forward to working with you.
