I am a clinical social worker licensed in New Mexico and have been working in the field for the past 5 years. A great deal of my experience comes from working with individuals on a variety of difficulties including stress management, depression, interpersonal communication, anxiety, grief/loss, and trauma. I have worked extensively with individuals dealing with poverty and discrimination including those among the immigrant, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ communities. I also have experience working with individuals from the empath community and those who have never been in therapy before. Though I am specifically trained in motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, SMART and as a sex educator; as a therapist I like to have a very eclectic style. I lead with a client centered approach and believe the therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance. My therapeutic style is warm and laid back. I enjoy using humor to process and build rapport. I like to say that in therapy, as the client, you are the expert of your experience and my purpose is to help you reach clarity and growth in whatever way necessary for you. You, as the client, are the captain of the ship and I as the therapist am like the navigational tool providing feedback; I can point you in the right direction of your goals but ultimately it is up to you on how you accomplish them! I take a very personal approach, understanding that every person is different and that there is no one type of therapy that will be a fit for all. As a therapist I am very open-minded, non judgmental and am not at all uncomfortable with silence or difficult topics. Seeking out therapy is an act that is extremely courageous because it involves taking a chance on a new relationship and ultimately on a better future. Making a change is never easy but can be so rewarding, and my goal as a therapist is to honor that. Hope to hear from you soon!

Dr. Beatrice Ilumin
Having worked as a licensed clinical mental health therapist in a myriad of settings: a treatment center, shelter for battered families, DWI prevention, and private practice in our New Mexico community, gratitude remains for individuals and their families who sought to recover from life's challenges. Working with adults from diverse backgrounds experiencing life transitions, relational difficulties, grief and loss, aging, and care-giving to an elderly loved one are presented with courage and hope for change into a better way of life. COVID has entered into our lives with its necessary precautions; hence, this counseling room is an empathic place to share "how COVID had or continues affecting your life." And in all of life, both you and I seek justice, equity, inclusion and a sense of belonging mindful that in this counseling room: Safety First! is offered and prevails. Each of us has a story and our work together is to help redirect and make sense of your narrative in a safe and non-judgmental space as "we" explore the unique nature of your struggles. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is addressed whereby thoughts and actions lead to core beliefs hurtful to one's own self as well as other therapeutic practices which include Mindfulness Practices, Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology Therapy and an Approach to Trauma-Informed Care each held in confidentiality, compassion, and empathic listening; it is an alliance between therapist and "subscriber" to be at the center of each session. NOTE: subscribers 29 years and older are preferred; a member is not turned away as long as reasons for therapy can be served by this counseling room's specializations; however, an individual cannot be younger than 25 years. From the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Arts in English cum laude was awarded. Eventually, a move to New Mexico was made to attend St John's College Graduate Institute whereby a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts was received. Studies continued with Pacifica Graduate Institute, Carpinteria, CA; hence a recipient of a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and Doctor of Philosophy in Depth Psychology. Travels to meet youth from all over the world were made to Western Europe, Mexico, Israel, and China. In China, a school-teacher-guide asked, "Please spell psychology." With a right index finger positioned on the top of her left hand, written in Mandarin was psychology: "Oh, Bea, psychology means you see my Heart." I am privileged to be chosen as your therapist. Gratefully, Beatrice Beatrice Holtz Ilumin PhD LPCC

Marriage, divorce, parenting, aging, caregiving, work and health concerns are common stressors in our world today. The mind and body are intertwined and we now know that stress impacts overall health. The process of change from self discovery to self reliance is a stressful endeavor in personal growth. My style focuses on a client's increased awareness and becoming mindful along their path. Solution focused methods address the identified problems for developing an action plan towards well being. An integrated approach supports the person to be fully involved in their own process of healing. My work as an LMFT spans over 29 years of service to individuals, couples and families with issues in relationships and life transitions. That includes military families, families impacted by substance abuse, and those with chronic health concerns I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in both Oklahoma and New Mexico. In seeking a therapist, look for a potential to connect with the provider and their style. I would be happy to explore the possibility in providing support through your own growth process.

I am rather eclectic in my approach to counseling and therapy and keep the needs of the individual foremost in mind. I have worked with a wide variety of clients, demographics and issues. I believe in the identity of the individual over any diagnoses or problem and will work with you on the journey of self discovery to find out what the true source of the presenting problems are and to work on changing thoughts and behaviors to help you reach your life goals.

My sessions are client driven, meaning that the client determines the goals and pace of therapy. Counseling is conducted for a variety of reasons, but everyone has one commonality in their reason for seeking counseling – change. counseling is the gateway to making personal changes and can assist in solving particular problems or learning to lead a healthier life. The counseling process can be interesting and exciting. It can also, at times, be very challenging, difficult and even painful. However, the goal will always be to bring about positive changes. I look forward to taking this journey with you.
