Danielle Guerrero
Hello! My name is Danielle Guerrero and I am a licensed clinical social worker in New Mexico. I am a life long New Mexico resident, and attended New Mexico State University for both my bachelors and masters in social work. I have several years of experience working with a wide variety of clients to include both individuals and families . I have experience working with individuals who have experienced domestic violence, families and individuals who are involved with CPS, as well as specializing in foster care/adoption and attachment therapy. I also work with individuals who need assistance with stress management, depression, anxiety, parenting support, PTSD, adjustment/life changes, interpersonal conflicts, grief and loss, and trauma. I have a warm, collaborative, and eclectic approach to therapy that includes different evidence based therapeutic frameworks to include attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, strengths based therapy, and person centered therapy. I focus on helping people learn positive coping and communication skills to overcome barriers they face in daily life. I believe that the therapeutic alliance is the most important part of therapy, and that the most healing comes from work that is collaborative. I enjoy helping people learn how to harness their inner strength to build resiliency. The journey to self discovery starts with a single step. I look forward to working with you!

There are definitely things that we can do in service of our own healing and growth but I tend to believe that there aren’t really answers or solutions to things, nor does there need to be, but instead ways of looking at them and holding them so that we can be in better relationship with them. I believe we can offer ourselves a perspective that can turn situations, circumstances, feelings, relationships with others and the relationship with ourselves into dance partners, instead of opponents that need to be defeated, not allowed or kept down. We can invite all of our experiences onto the dance floor of our heart! As a human being we will sometimes dance with incredible Grace and at other times be quite clumsy. We are allowed, we are human! If we allow ourselves to move with humor, patience, understanding and forgiveness we can recognize that our life’s dance can truly be Blessed and beautiful! Quite simply offering behavioral, emotional and relational support to young people, individuals and families on their journeys. Providing a strength based approach in which warmth, patience, humility, humor and sincere reflection nurture the already existing health and strength within each human being. Since 2012 I have been Blessed with being able to provide therapeutic support to children, adolescents, adults and families in my role as a youth and family therapist. I would be honored to provide any support or therapeutic accompaniment I can offer to assist you on your path of healing, personal growth, individual unfoldment or just surfing the waves of life. I look forward to working with you. Thank you so much! Eric

I began my career in the Neuropsychology Department at Baylor College of Medicine where I conducted cognitive tests for patients with memory impairments. Over the next 15 years, I held progressively responsible clinical and management positions in medical research centers, hospitals, and community settings, working with individuals and families. We focused on managing stress, relaxation techniques, and coping with aging parents, as well as caregiver stress, grief, and loss. I taught Stress Management for 8 years and have specialized training in palliative care, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, and support for suicide loss survivors. My cross-cultural experience includes living and working in Japan, Singapore, and Germany for 7 years. Along the way, I had the opportunity to establish and provide counseling services to help military personnel and their families living on Army bases overseas, focusing on stress and PTSD. While living in Singapore, I provided community education, counseling, and post-hospitalization aftercare to support the social and emotional well-being of individuals and families. I am dedicated to continuous individual change and professional growth, which provides the focus of my coaching. I believe that executive coaching is the most effective approach to stimulate self-awareness, behavior change, and growth for professionals at all levels in their career. I base my coaching work on tying coaching goals to clear business outcomes. Through feedback, questions, challenges, and discernment, I help my clients to see possibilities, make plans, and take action to reach their goals. I am a published and credentialed executive coach. How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Mountainair counselor?
Before seeing your Mountainair therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Mountainair therapists here may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy.
Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?
Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Mountainair licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Mountainair counselor can be dependent on your process.
People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.
Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Mountainair, New Mexico can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Mountainair has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
