Patricia Lee
PATRICIA LEE, LCSW I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Oregon with 22 years of combined experience in mental health and medical social work. I graduated from the School of Social Work at Portland State in 1993 and subsequently participated in a training and consultation group that was led by some of my former professors. It was that training through the former Institute for Family Centered Therapy that ultimately influenced who I am as a counselor and social worker today and how I have practiced therapy over the years. My therapy approach is based on models that help empower clients by identifying strengths in themselves and their families. When people feel empowered they can and will improve all aspects of their lives. My style is collaborative. I view my clients as partners and establish treatment goals with them. I educate clients about any therapy modalities that I use with them, and keep them informed about their progress. I ask questions to elicit the client’s curiosity about his or her situation so that my clients can have a different emotional response to that situation. They will ultimately have a different (empowered) understanding of self. My practice experience has been with children, adolescents and their parents earlier in my career. The bulk of my clients have been adults of all ages with issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, other relationship issues, health and medical problems, employment concerns, bereavement, end of life concerns, and a host of other problems. I have provided individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy and group therapy in a variety of employment settings and in private practice. I have extensive experience in counseling adults receiving dialysis treatment at several outpatient clinics in the Portland metro area. I know that there are many barriers to pursuing counseling, including whatever stressful situation that you find yourself in, the stigma attached to mental health, the logistics of finding a counseling program or center, the difficulties of scheduling counseling appointments, and the challenges of connecting with a counselor that is right for you. I want you to know that schedule is flexible and I that will work with you to get through any other barriers.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have over 17 years of social work experience in a variety of positions. Of those 17 years, ten years have been direct, one-on-one counseling. I obtained my Masters in Social Welfare from the University of California Los Angeles and am licensed as an LCSW in California since 2009 and Oregon since 2016. I have been blessed to have a wide range of experience in a wide range of settings, ranging from a homeless shelter in downtown LA Skidrow, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, outpatient counseling in clinics, schools, and homes, and both the inpatient medical hospital and outpatient primary care clinic. Every opportunity has allowed me to work with a different population, to grow skills, and address common needs and issues across a variety of lifestyles. My approach is always to start where the client is, where you are at, in your needs, treatment, support, issues, and concerns, focusing on short-term therapy interventions. I have a goal-oriented, client-centered approach, identifying steps and treatment plans in collaboration with my clients. My therapeutic approaches lean towards Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, while identifying and incorporating behaviors, core values, and mores from the client's past that no doubt impact the situation you are working on presently. My hopes are to work and grow along side of my clients, helping you to identify, progress, and ultimately reach your goals. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your desired goals!

Amelia Jensen
Welcome to my Therapy Room. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working in Mental Health. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including refugees, geriatric, chronic mental illness, relationship issues, and trauma. I have had special training in diagnosing Adults on the Autism Spectrum using the ADOS 2. I have had training in sex therapy and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy as well. I can supervise other therapists/students in WA state and discuss cases with colleagues as required per your code of ethics. My therapy style is person centered and solution focused. I believe you already have answers within you but may need someone to shine a flashlight on parts that may be hidden or buried. I will tailor our dialogue to meet your unique and specific needs. I am an introvert and will be more of a listener and guider. My style is not as interactive and upbeat as compared to an extroverted therapist. I am straightforward and go straight to the work in most cases, rather than spending lengthy time on small talk. I am part of the LGBTQ+ community. I came to this country as a refugee in the 1980s and am a survivor of trauma. Age is important to clients so I will disclose I am in the 40s age range. My hobbies, include hiking, board games, reading, drinking tea and playing with cats. A little explanation on how I use different therapies: Somatic- helping you locate the feeling in the body and describing it based on a feeling meditation that originates from Eastern philosophies (this is a common technique used by therapists in recent years) CBT- working on thought distortions. Specifically, I like to teach a session on 12 common thought distortions and help you identify how they show up for you. ACT- working on seeing things can be both this way and that way, it's not black and white. We add the word "and" rather than "or" to your view of the world. AEDP- exploring how anxiety is really a cover for other emotions such as disappointment, rage, fear etc. Compassionate Inquiry- identifying how the emotional flashbacks (aka triggers) you are experiencing now are related to things that took place in the past. Awareness leads to initiation and we work on no longer letting these patterns take control of your life. Therapist self disclosure with personal stories that relate to yours is necessary. (this goes against some older styles where therapists didn't self-disclose) Motivational Interviewing- looking at how your goals don't match your current behaviors. Regular talk therapy and venting is great too- it helps me reflect back your patterns to you. For instance if you say a certain phrase frequently I will point this out to you. Poetry- I enjoy mixing in poetry when it pertains to certain issues and especially if you are a writer/poet. Shadow Work- exploring your unconscious patterns and stored memories and how they affect your way of thinking. Please take advantage of the journal feature. If you share it with me I may comment and we can discuss highlights during our sessions. I am ok with you having to multitask/snack/cook/text as long as you are dressed appropriately and engage in therapy. While we try our best to have a professional setting, sometimes working from home entails apartment noises, and a less than perfect setting. I may eat a snack or use my standing desk and exercise my feet for health reasons. If you are here for relationship struggles I will ask you and your significant other to take the Gottman Relationship Checkup which will cost $39 per couple. It will give us a comprehensive map of areas to focus on. My sessions are 30 to 45 minutes. We can see how the session is flowing and the stopping point will occur naturally for each session. However the minimum is 30 minutes. I can't accept less than that due to financial reasons. Betterhelp is great because you have an unlimited chat service available 24/7 and when you schedule sessions, you can choose between phone, video and chatroom (livechat). So if you had a video session booked but it turns out you are at the doctor's office- we can quickly make it a livechat or if you are driving we can make it a phone call. It's easy to switch on my end. I look forward to meeting you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling, with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health from Holy Cross University. I am a National Certified Counselor and a member of the American Counseling Association. I am currently advanced trained and working toward my certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Story Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT), and Play Therapy. Prior to working as a counselor, I have worked with populations that have been greatly impacted by trauma. My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of traumatic and relational issues. I utilize an attachment framework derived from Emotionally Focused Therapy and Story Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT) to help my clients understand how they came to be who they are. Validating the client and how their behaviors make sense, aids in their understanding and acceptance of themselves. We can learn new behaviors once we have identified the unhealthy ones creating new cycles and securing bonds between partners. My counseling style is attachment-based, which means we look at what you learned by those who raised you, how you found comfort as a child, did you have anyone safe, were emotions safe to express and how are these items impacting your life today. We all struggle throughout life and I was no exception. Acknowledging the struggle is a huge step towards success along with finding the right therapist. We only know what we were taught and how to react to situations from those who raised us. You deserve to be the best you possible and I am here to help you find that. Let me help you discover new ways to a happy and healthier life.

You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Amity licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Amity counselor can be dependent on your process.
People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Amity, Oregon can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Amity has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
