Debra Pruyn
My name is Debra Pruyn and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Oregon and I have my LMSW in the state of New York. I received my Masters of Social Work at Adelphi University in New York in 1995. I have worked in many different fields as a therapist and case manager with individuals in the fields of Probation, Early Intervention, Mental Health and Addictions. I have worked with individuals with diagnosis of anxiety/depression, drug and alcohol addiction, and relationship issues as well as severe and persistent mental illness. Over my almost 30 years of experience with social work, I have worked as a Counselor to many people to bring support during times of difficulty. I truly believe that each of us are able to support ourselves and sometimes need the guidance to be able to develop understanding of our fears to work through troubled times. I enjoy being that supportive person to many individuals. I work with people to determine what their goals are so that they can work towards achievement. Therapy helps to organize all the thoughts in our heads to set a clear path. You are welcome to message me at any time during the day. I usually check messages two to three times a day seven days a week so that I would be readily available to respond. I also offer live chat and video sessions as well with more availability in the evenings and weekends. Check with me to see what my availability is when you are ready to schedule. Generally sessions are 30 minutes, let me know if you need more time. I look forward to working with you!

David has a very diverse background. In addition to Masters in Mental Health Counseling, he has a Maters in Biology/Biochemistry and worked in Research. David changed fields and worked 25 years as a radiochemist which combined nuclear chemistry and physics. As a counselor his background has been very beneficial in understanding the processes underlying behavior and mental health. As a result of his work in industry David has good people skills which are essential in working with clients with mental health issues. David provides an eclectic approach in counseling theory and uses Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Counseling, Schema Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. He is trained in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback which are good tools to help clients with issues such as depression, anxiety disorders and addiction. David’s initial approach is to develop a trusting relationship with the client. He then works with the client to identify the specific issues. A treatment plan is developed to address these issues. As treatment proceeds this plan may be revised as specific issues come up. When the client completes the plan, he will be reassessed. Depending on the clients progress the client may be discharged with specific goals to work on. If there are still unresolved issues a new treatment plan will be developed and treatment continued. If there are issues that require a different approach David may refer the client to another counselor that specializes in the client’s specific issues. On a personal level David has three adult children and two grandsons. David was raised in the mountains of Wyoming and has a place south of Jackson Hole which he spends as much time as he can. There his closest neighbors are elk, moose, and wolves. David lives most of the time in Boise. Esther Zack
Hello. My name is Esther and I want to congratulate you for taking the first 2 steps required for feeling better: (1) Acknowledging to yourself that there's something in your life that isn't working the way you want, and (2) reaching out to get some help with it. The next step is finding the right person to work with. Most people start by looking for a specific technique. There are tons of techniques available and my experience is informed by many of them, as you can see in the lists below. The most important factor for therapy being successful, though, is not techniques -- it is the connection you are able to make with your therapist. You are the expert on you and no matter how it may look from the outside, whatever you did to get you to today was the right thing because you got here. It may be time to find better ways to move on from here, though. My goal is to walk alongside you and help guide you past what's blocking you, to help you find your own inner wisdom and answers. In this walk my clients tell me they experience me as being warm, compassionate, supportive, easy to talk to, non-judgmental, a good listener, and deeply committed to their well being. I also have a great sense of humor, which can really help you get past some of the tough spots in this work. I have been doing my own personal growth work all my life, so I know what it feels like. And from the decades of therapy-related work I've done in addition to traditional therapy -- a broad range of support and advocacy for both native born Americans and people from 30+ ethnic groups from around the world -- I know that every human being has the same basic wants and needs: To feel safe in their lives, to be seen and valued for who they are, to find purpose, and if they are parents to be able to create a life of opportunity for their children. We are all in this together, and in this work I celebrate our commonalities as well as our diversity. I am acutely aware of the impact on our personal lives of the racism, the discrimination experienced by the LGBT communities, and the many other inequities currently rampant in our society. I also bring the experience of being a single adoptive parent who has raised an adopted toddler to successful adulthood, and I'm passionate and experienced in walking alongside foster and adoptive parents in therapy. Looking inside takes great courage, so I applaud you for reaching out. Whatever you bring, I look forward to speaking with you and walking alongside you. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families. Feel free to get in touch.

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Phoenix?
One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a Phoenix therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Counselors and therapists are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.
Therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Phoenix therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.
Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A Phoenix therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.
With a lot of people in OR, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles or therapists above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Phoenix counselor?
Before seeing your Phoenix therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Phoenix therapists here may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy.
Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?
Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Phoenix licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Phoenix counselor can be dependent on your process.
People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.
Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Phoenix, Oregon can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Phoenix has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
