30 years offering treatment

Hi, My name is Cathy and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with over 30 years experience in the mental health field. I've worked with individuals, couples, children, and families of diverse backgrounds in many different settings, with many different issues. Specialties include work with depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and family issues. I've also worked with addictions, sex offenders, kids of all ages, employee assistance, and just about anything else you can imagine, or so it seems. After all these years I 'm tempted to say I've "heard it all"... until something new proves me wrong! What I can say is I will try to offer a realistic perspective to almost any problem, whether it's a parenting, relationship, or family issue, or if you need help overcoming your fear, anxiety, anger, hurt, or just plain crazy-off-the-wall-stressful lifestyle. I draw upon many schools of thought, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy, structural family therapy, and various trauma-informed approaches. For those who request Christian Counseling, I have a seminary education and can provide Biblical insights into all of the above, but also acknowledge that the church is made up of imperfect people and sometimes brings wounds of its own. So whatever your background, I believe it's important to be real, to meet you where you are, and work together to find the best solutions. If you need someone to discuss the complex bio-psycho-social dynamics and treatment protocols for particular diagnosis, I can do that. If you need someone to break down the psychobabble into plain language, I can do that. If you need it explained by chapter and verse, or want nothing to do with religion, that's fine too. Most of all, I believe that everyone deserves to be heard with compassion and respect before I can earn the right offer advice, challenge your thinking, or confront you with an uncomfortable truth. One of things I love about Betterhelp is that I have the opportunity to work with people from all over the world, and am reminded daily that the things we have in common are far greater than anything that may separate us. So no matter what your background, I am honored to have the privilege of getting to know you, and will do everything I can to help. Hope to meet you soon! I hold a Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Temple University. I am a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have provided individual, couples, and family therapy for more than twenty years. I am trained as a cognitive behavioral therapist but my approach is eclectic, person-centered and trauma-informed. I work with the individual where they are and together we explore and develop plans to overcome the challenges they are facing. I have worked with clients in various settings and helped them address depression, anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I can also help you navigate intimate relationship difficulties, family issues, life transitions, grief and loss. Starting therapy can be stressful in itself but I can help ease that stress as I provide a safe, judgement free environment and provide compassion and understanding that allows you to speak freely about your thoughts and feelings. I believe a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship is the most important part of creating lasting change. We will work together to address your concerns, overcome barriers, and identify your strengths to help you achieve your goals. I look forward to working with you!

Hello, my name is Connie. I am a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania with about 6 years of counseling experience. I have worked with clients with a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, family conflicts, and trauma within outpatient and family-based home settings. My therapy style includes the use of empathy, strength-based focus, and mindfulness. My therapeutic approach includes strength-based and systems therapy. This means exploration and reflection in how people have experienced their family system and how multiple systems in their life continue to affect them; such as school, jobs, community, etc. I find importance in open communication, promoting understanding, and building trust. I want to help others uncover the strengths that they already have to help them with their struggles. To do this, I will find which therapy style best fits the individual. I want to be an additional support for clients who have taken this first step to seek therapy. I look forward to working with you.

18 years offering treatment

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with over 18 years of experience in the helping profession. I began my career as a Mental Health/Substance Use Case Manager, where I linked individuals who were diagnosed with a mental health or substance use disorder to needed resources in their community. After completing my masters degree in Community Counseling, I began to counsel various individuals and families who experienced issues with: depression, anxiety, bipolar, grief, trauma, relationship issues, parenting problems, substance use/dependency and other life issues and events. I am a warm, relatable person who believes that each person is currently on their own life's journey. During that journey we experience things that can be pleasant as well as things that can be painful. Therapy/counseling can help serve as a guide to help us navigate those unpleasant moments and painful experiences. Respect and empathy are my guiding principles. My therapeutic approach combines Cognitive Behavioral, Psycho-Dynamic and Humanistic Therapy with Motivational Interviewing and Person Centered Thinking concepts and techniques. Taking the first steps toward change can be difficult at times. If you are ready to begin the journey of healing and positive change I am here to support and encourage you. I look forward to meeting you!

Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with over 19 years of diverse experience in outpatient therapy with people ranging from age 3 to 86. After graduating from Chestnut Hill College in April of 2001, I quickly became experienced in trauma counseling by working with survivors and the victims' families of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Over the course of the last nineteen years I have pursued further training in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and I am a trained member of the Lehigh County "Flight Team" which is a team that travels to county school districts to work with students and staff that have experienced a crisis. In addition, to outpatient therapy, I am a high school school counselor. This position has provided me with opportunities to create programs that support students' mental health concerns, as well as, programs to support parents. Approaches include cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, psychodynamic and rational-emotive strategies that will be tailor made to your needs. In addition to trauma, I have worked with clients on the following: Generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, life changes, parenting issues, body image, divorce, bipolar disorder, depression, work place bullying, self-esteem, empty nest syndrome, phobias, and sexual identity issues.
