Life can be challenging, am I right? Perhaps we all need a little help working through these challenges. I am a Nationally Certified and Professional Counselor with experience treating Drug and Alcohol and Mental Health challenges and obstacles you and others may face. My belief is we all have the ability to make changes and improvements in our lives, and some of the most challenging experiences can lead to valuable insights and the opportunity for self-growth. I also respect we all have differences, therefore, being seen and heard without judgement by another can be one of the most healing experiences we can have. My goal is to empower you to find solutions, learn new ways, explore your strengths, work toward healing from past experiences, and stay focused on becoming the best version of yourself that you can be. I wish to be a collaborative guide who helps you gain self-awareness, view your thoughts and life in a more positive way, and develop strategies to cope and regulate your emotions in a healthy manner. I will encourage you through the process of gaining greater self-confidence, self-compassion, a stronger sense of identity, and trusting your own decisions. I consider myself to be a strong community and social services professional who holds a Master of Arts - MA focused in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts - BA focused in Clinical Mental Health Psychology from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. I draw from many evidence-based theories, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy; Person-Centered Therapy; Emotion-Focused Therapy; Trauma-Focused Therapy; Psychodynamic Therapy; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness practices. I've worked with clients aged 4 through 88 experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, addiction, ADHD, trauma, loss, behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges, among others. "Before every session I take a moment to remember my humanity. There is no experience this man has I cannot share with him, no fear I cannot understand, no suffering I cannot care about, because I too am human." -Carl Rogers

Hello there! Let me first start by saying thank you and congratulations! You should pat yourself on the back for taking the initiative to becoming a better version of yourself. Admitting that you may need guidance is hard, but here you are taking steps towards mental clarity. For that, you should be very proud of yourself, as you have crossed one of the biggest hurdles. My name is Angela, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I earned a masters degree in Clinical Psychology in 2013. My undergraduate degree is in Clinical/Counseling Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. I recently earned a School Counselor Certification to expand my horizon in the counseling field. For 8 years, I worked as a Psychology Services Specialist in a correctional setting (Virginia and Pennsylvania). In this setting, I worked closely with clients experiencing many issues in both individual and group settings. A lot of my time has been spent helping people manage depression, anxiety, crises, grief, trauma, substance abuse, thoughts of suicide and/or self-harm, family conflict, anger, sexuality, and identity issues. I have also been lucky to attend many trainings to strengthen my awareness in the field. I currently work as a School Counselor in a middle school and absolutely love it! I take a very client-centered approach and try to be as eclectic as possible to best meet my clients' needs. It is important that we can build a rapport combined with mutual trust to make your therapeutic experience a powerful and helpful one. I really enjoy an integrative approach that uses both cognitive-behavioral and humanistic therapy methods. I am a strong believer in mindfulness and would love to provide clients with different worksheets and techniques that would be helpful in their daily lives. Self-care is extremely important, so I will certainly be encouraging that on the regular. In my spare time, spending time with family and friends, traveling, exploring nature, reading, or hanging with my dogs is where you will find me (REMEMBER: self-care is key)!! Whether it be myself or another therapist you see fit, I absolutely hope you find what you were looking for on your journey. If I seem like someone who may fit your goals and needs, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to talking to you soon!

Hello, my name is Denise. I have been a Counselor/Therapist for over 30 years. Through my years of experience, I have found that a client centered approach is often the most effective. Each client's story is unique and I want to have the opportunity to hear their story before going forward with a specific style of therapy. I listen with compassion and then review with the client the key points of their experience. Sometimes I ask difficult questions with the intention of helping the client to look at themselves from a different perspective. Counseling can be hard work, and so I want the client to feel that they are working toward the best outcome possible. Sometimes that will take a couple of sessions, sometimes it can take much longer. I will offer suggestions regarding the duration of therapy, but ultimately that decision is made by the client. All of us have heard the phrase, "these are unprecedented times." Yes, we all have been introduced to extraordinary change in the past couple of years. As a clinician, I am always searching for new ways of helping myself, my family and my community to work with the changes we are experiencing. Change is difficult for many people, but with help, I feel that each of us is capable of making whatever change is necessary to create a better tomorrow. Over the past 5 years, I have been exploring alternative ways of helping people cope with the issues that have led to anxiety, depression, sadness and grief. After reading Bessel Van Der Kolk's book "The Body Keeps The Score," I recognized that the human psyche needs to learn how to release the pain that is stored in the body. I have recently completed the Eden Energy Medicine 4 year program. Based on the amazing information I learned through EEM, I will be sharing ways to release the pain stored in our body by sharing simple techniques that help to ground and relax the body. I often refer the members I am working with to one of Donna Eden's books that detail many of the techniques that I have been sharing with people. I encourage you to look for Donna's book, "Energy Medicine: Balancing Your Body's Energies for Optimal Health, Joy, and Vitality." Then contact me for questions and guidance on how to integrate these techniques into your life. I do believe that each of us can live with optimal health, joy, and vitality.
