Melinda Noel
Welcome to Better Help! Whether you are here for yourself or someone you care about - because you're curious about how this works or you already know you want to sign up - welcome! You've made the click so you've already made a step. My name is Melinda Noel and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania but have enjoyed some schooling outside of my home state. I received my Bachelors degree in Foods and Nutrition from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. I then went on to obtain my Masters in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. I've worked in other's homes with reunification, in an office setting as a practice manager, as a counselor and as a clinical supervisor, to name a few. I have an extensive background in treating children and adults that have been through trauma. I have several certifications in trauma because I feel it is so universal. Most of us have dealt with something traumatic in our lives whether it be a car accident, the loss of a loved one, an attack, a divorce, etc. Unfortunately, many of us will experience numerous trauma's in our lives, and let's face it, trauma is not an easy thing to overcome. Along with specializing in trauma treatment, I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems and adjustment to life transitions to name a few. As of more recent years, I have taken a passion to educating people on healthy boundaries and conflict resolution skills. This proves especially helpful to those struggling with unhealthy relationships and people that are uncertain of healthy ways to handle conflict or confrontation. I believe that a person's view of the issues is most important. It is our job as counselors to then help people identify patterns in unhealthy behaviors or additional issues that may be important in treatment, but you know you best. That means that whatever it is you feel is a problem, I will take it seriously and work towards improvement. I love the idea of a counselor being available whenever someone needs help the most - in the moment or as close to the moment as possible. I'm excited to get started with you and am confident you will feel comfortable, supported and motivated throughout our time together. Let's get started!

Kenlo McGowan
Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania with over 20 years of experience. I have worked with adults over a wide spectrum of issues and life problems and look forward to assisting you in developing goals for your overall success. Much of my experience includes work in preventing or combatting stress, especially career or job-related issues, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions disorders and co-dependency, grief counseling, critical incident debriefing, and working to resolve issues surrounding physical disabilities or trauma. In the past three years much of my work has included helping others deal with or prevent the negative impact of covid-19. I tend to work in a solution-focused framework, helping remove immediate obstacles to allow further work on underlying or longterm issues. I also utilize Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, especially in working through addictions-based problems, to assist in dissolving irrational beliefs that may be holding a client back from fulfillment of goals and dreams. The atmosphere of sessions is one of acceptance and not of judgment for what may have brought a person to talk with me, or what has come before. It takes courage to realize there is a problem requiring assistance and also to believe that the help is available. By tackling that step you have begun your journey. I would be honored to assist you along the way.

A Eddystone licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Eddystone counselor can be dependent on your process.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Eddystone, Pennsylvania can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Eddystone has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
