With all of life’s challenges, many of us can benefit from therapy at one time or another. Whether you are seeking to heal from unresolved trauma, target behavioral issues, or simply make some positive changes in your life, therapy can help.

When looking for a therapist, Eerie, PA may offer more options than surrounding rural areas, but it isn’t always easy to find the right therapist even in a city. When it comes to psychotherapy, there are a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches available, and which therapeutic approach will be most effective depends on the challenge being addressed. A therapist who does family counseling may not be the right match for someone looking for an expert on women’s issues. The specialization you need may not be available nearby. This is where online therapy can help.

BetterHelp offers online-based PA licensed professional counselors who work in everything from solution based therapy for goal setting, to dialectical behavioral therapy to process past trauma. Online sessions can also be helpful for busy professionals looking for life balance since they can talk to their therapist from their own home.

If you’ve been thinking about therapy for any reason, whether you’ve experienced trauma and need support, are looking for tools to handle life’s challenges, or are seeking inner peace through self-reflection, the Eerie, PA therapists listed below can help. Click on a profile to find out more about their experience, licensure, and approach. You can also read reviews from people who have already experienced the benefits of online therapy with that particular therapist.

I have always seemed to be in a helping position. Before graduating high school I started work at a large veterinarian hospital/boarding kennel in Blue Bell, PA as an animal health technician and then the hospital administrator, where I stayed for over 15 years. I decided to return to school to pursue a degree in psychology and have been in the mental health field since 1998, working for such organizations as Special Equestrians as a side aid volunteer assisting people with physical and/or mental health disabilities and Lenape Valley Foundation as both a house advisor and a Partial Hospital Program group therapist for people with severe and persistent mental illness. I also worked for Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia for their Narcotic Addict Rehabilitation Program where I was a counselor for people addicted to heroin. I recently worked for Catholic Charities in NJ in the roles of therapist for the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program working with kids diagnosed with substance abuse or dependence, as well as a clinical supervisor for the Comprehensive Family Treatment of Addictions Program (CFTA). This led to the position of Program Director for CFTA, the Therapeutic After-School Program (a therapeutic group for kids ages 8-12) and an In-home therapy/case management program, while also carrying a small direct-service caseload at my private practice. Finally, after taking the position of Service Area Director, with responsibility for 13 substance abuse, mental health and social service programs, I realized that I was moving further and further away from my original ambition of providing one to one service to clients. This realization led to my decision to get back into direct service. The ability to provide a safe environment for people to share their feelings, thoughts, and experiences is essential to effective counseling. Studies have shown no one therapeutic modality utilized by therapists is superior to another; rather, clinicians themselves ultimately determine whether treatment will prove effective. It’s not about the model being used; it’s the relationship between the counselor and client. This principle guides my work, in that I strive to provide a client-centered, strength-based counseling setting to individuals, couples and adolescents for issues related to addiction, anxiety, career or relationships. I look to my clients to be the experts of themselves, which encourages them to guide the therapy where it needs to go. What I offer is a space to gain insight in order for that insight to become the catalyst for change. I believe that once a person sees their truth, they have no choice but to accept that truth…though we often do our best not to. Each of us develops psychological schemas that teach us how to interact with people and the world. When we grow accustomed to a certain pattern of behavior, however, we look to repeat it, even after it’s outlived its usefulness. Addiction, for instance, is a maladaptive coping skill that worked at one time but does no longer. With a background in English literature, I bring a decidedly post-modern perspective to my therapeutic approach. One of the concepts I utilize is Narrative Therapy, which encourages and compassionately challenges clients to be mindful of the story they’re telling to better utilize their strengths. This theory acknowledges the power of language, in that not only does the language we use reflect how we feel, it also affects how we feel. Therefore, the words we choose to use can help to manifest the changes we hope to bring about. The idea is to encourage the use of more positive words as opposed to negative words while telling our life story. I have found this approach to be remarkably effective in helping clients confront the challenges of their lives in order to bring about lasting and meaningful change. Other approaches and techniques I draw from include Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (with a strong working knowledge of Motivational Interviewing), Trauma Informed Therapy, and Systems Theory. I find it satisfying to be part of helping people discover who they can be and realize that perhaps they’re more than who they thought they were. Ultimately, if each of us can achieve balance and make our own little corner of the world a little bit more satisfying and a little safer, we help to create a better reality for all of us. Welcome to Better Help! Whether you are here for yourself or someone you care about - because you're curious about how this works or you already know you want to sign up - welcome! You've made the click so you've already made a step. My name is Melinda Noel and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania but have enjoyed some schooling outside of my home state. I received my Bachelors degree in Foods and Nutrition from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. I then went on to obtain my Masters in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. I've worked in other's homes with reunification, in an office setting as a practice manager, as a counselor and as a clinical supervisor, to name a few. I have an extensive background in treating children and adults that have been through trauma. I have several certifications in trauma because I feel it is so universal. Most of us have dealt with something traumatic in our lives whether it be a car accident, the loss of a loved one, an attack, a divorce, etc. Unfortunately, many of us will experience numerous trauma's in our lives, and let's face it, trauma is not an easy thing to overcome. Along with specializing in trauma treatment, I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems and adjustment to life transitions to name a few. As of more recent years, I have taken a passion to educating people on healthy boundaries and conflict resolution skills. This proves especially helpful to those struggling with unhealthy relationships and people that are uncertain of healthy ways to handle conflict or confrontation. I believe that a person's view of the issues is most important. It is our job as counselors to then help people identify patterns in unhealthy behaviors or additional issues that may be important in treatment, but you know you best. That means that whatever it is you feel is a problem, I will take it seriously and work towards improvement. I love the idea of a counselor being available whenever someone needs help the most - in the moment or as close to the moment as possible. I'm excited to get started with you and am confident you will feel comfortable, supported and motivated throughout our time together. Let's get started!

Hi, I have been counseling for over 25 years, having worked across both inpatient and outpatient settings, with adults and children, and with individuals and families/groups in relation to both mental health and substance abuse issues. I have a master's from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania's M.A. in Clinical Psychology program and also have earned a post-master's certificate in Psychology from Northcentral University. I plan to complete my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology over the next 3 years. I have worked under the direct supervision of psychologists for years, conducting varied psychological testing and report writing. In addition, I have taught at the College/University level for 20 years, both part-time and full-time, in Psychology, Sociology, and Human Services. I truly love the social and behavioral sciences--so many fascinating ideas! My approach is friendly, straightforward, and solution focused. My role, really, is to assist you in reaching your goals in life. I am person-centered as we are each unique in our strengths and weaknesses. I am very eclectic in my counseling approach, drawing from the many interesting perspectives in the helping field--whether psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, or systems-based. These approaches are often very helpful in assisting folks with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger management, goal attainment, relationship issues, and more. On a personal level, I enjoy varied martial arts training as well as other mind-body disciplines--such as Yoga and T'ai Chi. I do often incorporate mindfulness training into counseling as can help folks with issues related to anxiety, attention, mood, relaxation, sleep, etc. Such practices can also become a bridge to self-development and spirituality, for those so interested. So, please connect with me on any questions or concerns you may have. I'd like to get to know you, and see how I may be of assistance. Sincerely, Richard States, MA, LPC

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (PA) with more than has more than 25 years of experience as a Mental Health Therapist. I hold a Doctorate of Social Work, which was completed in October 2019. I treat children, adults, and families - specializing in trauma, anxiety, autism, and substance abuse from a strengths perspective. I have over 200 hours of specialized training in treating trauma and abuse, with completed certifications in autism, as well as substance abuse. I have helped many patients with many concerns over the past 25 years. I treat from a holistic approach - body, mind, and spirit. Research states that treatment should include physical, mental, emotional, culture, religion, spirituality, and everything that makes you who you are. "Holistic" has become somewhat of a buzzword. Let me describe what holistic means to me. It means that counseling will not fix a thyroid problem. Holistic means that a problem in one area of your life will affect every area of your life. For example, let's talk about depression. Sometimes, people do not have depression. Instead, they might need to work at forgiving themselves or someone else; or maybe they just need hope that life will get better. Alternatively, they might have an underlying medical condition. Sometimes, we just need help to grieve the loss of a dearly loved person or a beloved animal. I help people to find healthy coping skills, people to trust, and ways to live life to the fullest. Be at Peace, Dr. Vic (he/ him) Dr. Victor John Manocchio, II, DSW, LCSW License PA- CW014668; NY – 090111 NPI 1487828554
