Everyone deserves a journey of self-healing and self-discovery. In fact, allowing yourself to blossom is the avenue to experiencing self-love and meaningful connections with others. I have worked in the field of mental health for over 12 years, but have been researching and seeking methods of healing since my early teens. I attended the University of California, San Diego, followed by Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified EFT Practitioner. I have resided in California, Colorado, New Jersey, and now reside in Austin, Texas. I have experience assisting families, adolescents, and adults dealing with a range of issues including anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, addictions, end of life issues, and issues related to discrimination and marginalization. I am an experienced therapist, supervisor, and group facilitator in various settings. I also served as adjunct faculty at Naropa University, teaching courses on Transforming Addictions and Multicultural and Diversity Issues in Counseling. I was always fascinated by the intersection of mind, body, spirit, and emotion, and have undoubtedly learned the power of transforming harmful mental and emotional patterns. As such, I found myself specializing in mindfulness based techniques and with foundations in unique spiritual perspectives. I am certified in the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a powerful, but simple method that provides immediate relief of distress. When offered in guided sessions, EFT also works to unravel and shift unhealthy patterns that the conscious mind and talk therapy alone cannot access. Your strengths lie in your weaknesses, and your power lies within your suffering. I will gently guide you through a journey where you can piece by piece, find balance and empowerment in your life. I am passionate about being an innovator in the field of psychology and supporting work that brings forth real change. Transformation is possible, and we often face systems and ways of approaching mental health that make us feel stuck. I am devoted to sharing knowledge and information with others on how they can create breakthroughs in their own lives, no matter where they came from and who they are. My youtube channel "Keep the Clarity" is a space where I share lessons and experience in moving towards real change with others, including work with other counselors pertaining how to better our work with our clients.

Richard States
Hi, I have been counseling for over 25 years, having worked across both inpatient and outpatient settings, with adults and children, and with individuals and families/groups in relation to both mental health and substance abuse issues. I have a master's from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania's M.A. in Clinical Psychology program and also have earned a post-master's certificate in Psychology from Northcentral University. I plan to complete my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology over the next 3 years. I have worked under the direct supervision of psychologists for years, conducting varied psychological testing and report writing. In addition, I have taught at the College/University level for 20 years, both part-time and full-time, in Psychology, Sociology, and Human Services. I truly love the social and behavioral sciences--so many fascinating ideas! My approach is friendly, straightforward, and solution focused. My role, really, is to assist you in reaching your goals in life. I am person-centered as we are each unique in our strengths and weaknesses. I am very eclectic in my counseling approach, drawing from the many interesting perspectives in the helping field--whether psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, or systems-based. These approaches are often very helpful in assisting folks with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger management, goal attainment, relationship issues, and more. On a personal level, I enjoy varied martial arts training as well as other mind-body disciplines--such as Yoga and T'ai Chi. I do often incorporate mindfulness training into counseling as can help folks with issues related to anxiety, attention, mood, relaxation, sleep, etc. Such practices can also become a bridge to self-development and spirituality, for those so interested. So, please connect with me on any questions or concerns you may have. I'd like to get to know you, and see how I may be of assistance. Sincerely, Richard States, MA, LPC

Hello and welcome to Better Help! My name is Lauren and I am really looking forward to getting to know you and working together. As a licensed professional counselor, I strive to help my clients reach their individual goals in a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment. Life is difficult. Life is hard. And life can be beautiful too. My name is Danielle and I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Pennsylvania with over eight years of experience working with individuals with both significant mental health needs as well as persons who desire help and support to assist with life crises and issues. I have had the privilege of assisting folks with persistent mental health and clinical diagnoses as well as persons who are experiencing life problems which effect their ability to feel fulfilled and happy. My approach in sessions is to be the listener to your personal story, validate your life's journey and work with you in order to determine the next best steps to resolve your most presenting issues. Therapy can be a healing process. Where else can you have the opportunity to converse and interact with a person in a safe space for the purposes of sharing what troubles you most? Together we can find a way to make life more manageable and (hopefully) more beautiful too. The struggle is worth the journey.

ABOUT ME Hello, I have been working with clients, and families, for the past 20 years. My experience includes dealing with a variety of concerns that impact their lives. I believe that who we are and what we are have been, to some degree, influenced by others which is sometimes out of our control. Who we are, our identity, can sometimes get lost and we just need a listening ear to get us back on the right path. My focus in counseling will always be that we have choices in the path we take in our lives, which empowers us to regain control of our lives: regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in while on this journey called life. A friend of mine said to me during one of our conversations, “the time you wake up in the morning is your morning, but you need to wake up.” This is your morning because you have reached out and I am glad that you did. I look forward to working with you
