Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Behavior Specialist. I have enjoyed over 13 years working in the mental health field, helping my clients change their lives in positive ways. Those that I come alongside often say I provide warm, heartfelt support and professional guidance as they found hope and transformation through their struggles. Taking part in their journey as an expert guide, I have helped individuals navigate their way through depression, anxiety, relationship issues, lack of self-confidence, major life transitions, grief, and loss. Refreshing to my clients, I have a unique and individualized approach to my counseling, while at the same time being highly educated and expertly trained in mental health. I make coping strategies simple and easy to apply in real life. Cognitive-Behavioral, Person-Centered, Mindfulness, Trauma-Informed Care, and Strength-Based are just some of the theories that I draw from. I tailor my service in unique ways to support the specific needs of my clients while drawing from proven theoretical strategies. During our sessions together, you can expect that we will sort through the challenges you are facing, choose the strategies that work the best while focusing on making the changes that matter the most to you. What's on your mind most and how may I support you is a theme of the service I provide. I am confident of this: the life you want is already within your reach and the struggle that you are feeling right now is just temporary. You’ve already done the hardest part; you reached out and asked for help. Now it's time for you to take the next best step. Know I am here for you, as you begin this journey. Let’s take that next step, together.

My many years in the corporate world as an executive for a significant family business helped prepare me for my work as a professional addictions and substance abuse counseling. Not only did it condition me with the tools of awareness, acceptance and compromise in the face of diversity and difficulties, but also it taught me never to give up: keep looking for options and solutions even in the times of darkest trouble. As an executive managing hundreds of employees it would have been easy for me to assume that my perspective on life was the only one that mattered. Fortunately, my own struggles managing relationship and emotional challenges taught me that everyone has a right to their own perspective and feelings. I endeavor to listen intently to my clients, be open and honest with my feedback and always honor and protect the right of the people I work with to make their own decisions in life. As a former high school teacher, wrestling coach and girls soccer coach, I have experience with teenagers and parents and have helped resolve family conflicts. My work experiences took me on a career path through many states, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arizona and California before returning to our 4th generation family business in Pennsylvania. As such, I have experienced many different cultures and life styles. As a former 20 year board of director of a billion dollar bank, I have experience working and connecting with other business leaders in Pennsylvania. As a counselor, this gives me a unique insight into the world of high finance and connects me with the culture and work ethic of the corporate world. My work in professional counseling and the addictions psychology field in particular gives me an opportunity to practice what I've learned and share those benefits with others. When problems beset us and challenges threaten to overwhelm us, looking for who's to blame is a waste of time. Rather, I've come to realize that the best use of energy and life strategy is to find ways to accept reality, deal with facts without denial and grow into greater levels of maturity as a result. I am no stranger to life transitions and with my counseling skill sets, I make that experience available in creative ways to my clients. I cannot change my clients. Only they can change themselves. My goal as a professional counselor is to help clients find the ways and means to modify their behavior so that they are able to take better care of themselves. My Website is Transitionsamerica.com

I am a Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of post masters level experience and licensed in Pennsylvania. My earliest trainings began at a university affiliated psychiatric research institute with focus on therapies for substance dependence and mood disorders. Following this, I focused on family therapy interventions, working with highly conflicted couples and helping persons using aggression and violence in relationships. I am well trained and experienced in both individual and group psychotherapies including psychodynamic, cognitive based, dialectical and relaxation-meditative approaches to increase mindfulness. I have lived and worked in rural, urban and island communities. I have experience working with people across cultures and value the cultural experience of people in shaping their lives. I am experienced in working with active duty personnel and military veterans. My current practice is focused on the treatment of problems of mood and anxiety, post traumatic stress, post-acute recovery from substance dependence, persons with histories of family disruption and codependency, and highly conflicted relationships with and without intimate partner violence. My approach is person-centered and non-judgmental. I believe strongly in a client's ability to find solutions to the difficult issues in life, the importance of individual freedom of choice in seeking out those solutions, and personal accountability in managing the results of those choices. My style is collaborative. We will work together to identify your goals, explore the choices that will move you toward these goals and develop the knowledge and skill necessary for your success. I believe that the discomforts and difficulties we encounter are only part of the rich fabric of life and that it is through the resolution of these that we learn to manage our lives. And so, the life difficulties that you bring to our work together will contain the unique gateways to a more fulfilling and rewarding life for you.

Hello! I am a Clinical Psychologist licensed in Pennsylvania with over twenty years of experience practicing psychotherapy. In addition, I have worked with clients experiencing a wide variety of psychological challenges and concerns, including: mood disorders (depression and bipolar); anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety; obsessive-compulsive disorder; and panic disorder); psychotic disorders; attentional difficulties; impulse control and behavioral problems; substance use and misuse problems; and problems associated with significant stress and trauma (acute-, post-, and complex post-traumatic stress disorders). I have also assisted people in working on life issues and challenges, such as: grief; shame; adjustment difficulties; stress related to employment, education, or relationships; relationship difficulties; parenting challenges; self-esteem issues; problems related to identity; and experiences of imposter phenomenon. While I view clients' difficulties and the therapy process through the lens of psychodynamic theory, my therapy style (or how I am "in the room") is warm, collaborative, empathic, and client centered. I work hard to be present, listen attentively, and understand a client's experience from his/her/their perspective. Also, I utilize techniques and strategies from various psychotherapies, including: cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based-cognitive-behavioral, dialectal-behavioral, compassion-focused, emotion-focused, narrative, and humanistic-existential therapies. I view clients as experts of their experience and work collaboratively on goals established for making psychological changes to improve their lives.
