Welcome. Well, as you might know, there are times when we encounter challenges to the difficulties or changes in our life circumstances. While we are able to resolve some of those challenges on our own or by talking about them with close friends and family members, there are other times when we need some professional help. You may have found yourself in such a situation, so, thank you for reaching out. I am here to help. I am licensed in both Ohio and Pennsylvania, and for over 27 years, I have been helping people of all ages as a professional clinical counselor. I offer a supportive atmosphere so as to help to reduce any feelings of depression, anger, stress or anxiety. I also help to develop more rational, confident ways of thinking. My treatment style is active, instructive, and informative. I use an integrative approach to therapy as I draw primarily upon cognitive-behavioral, family systems and psychodynamic theories as needed. Additionally, I offer strategies for parents who are finding that they are having behavior difficulties with their children. In our first session together, I will most likely be asking you a lot of questions to find out more about you and to more fully understand what you are hoping to accomplish or resolve during our time together. Since counseling has a direction and is goal-oriented, developing a general idea of goals in your therapy with me will set the tone and the focus for the next session, as well as the direction of the counseling process itself. So, if you are ready for some new ways to manage your feelings or behavior and, ultimately, your life, I look forward to working with you.

I am a licensed psychologist with more than 30 years experience helping individuals, couples, and families with a wide variety of challenges and distressing life events. I earned a B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (with High Honors) and an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from United States International University (now Alliant University) in San Diego. My counseling style is warm and engaging, with a touch of humor (when appropriate) thrown in. I'm very down-to-earth and treat everyone with respect and as much understanding as I possibly can. People generally say they feel comfortable with me pretty quickly. I have experienced quite a lot, good and not-so-good, in my 70+ years, which means chances are good that I've personally dealt with whatever it is that you would like help with. It's hard to ask for help but people usually find that they wished they'd sought help sooner, once they can start to see the benefits. So please reach out and let's get started!

I knew I wanted to make a difference in the world by helping others when I was 12 years old. When one of my close friends lost her mother after battling cancer at the age of 15, I thought: “I wish I had the right words to comfort her.” This prompted me to choose to become a counselor. I have learned that what is most important when someone is hurting is to show up. To really be there for them. To hear their story. To listen and to understand what they are going through. I have learned that being vulnerable makes us strong and connects us to each other. In sessions, I will share when I can relate to an issue or situation and help my clients delve deeper into where their feelings, thoughts or behaviors are coming from to get to the root of the problems. I have worked with clients on identifying patterns in their life and finding ways to break negative cycles by changing their thoughts and perspectives so that changed emotions and behaviors will take place. So that healing can happen. I believe healing is possible. I believe we can unlock our abilities and potential by understanding ourselves, our past and our motives and breaking down the barriers of fear, pain and lies that others told us and we told ourselves for years. Change is possible. Therapy can be scary and takes hard work and courage. But with support and commitment we can change our lives for the better and have the peace and love our hearts ache for in life. We need each other. We don’t have to do life alone. I specialize in working with trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues and grief and loss. I work with clients to empower and inspire them to believe in themselves, love themselves and to shine their light in this world. We are all valuable and we all deserve to have a healthy, happy and good quality of life. We all need and deserve to be loved. Helping others brings me joy. I am happy to walk alongside you to help you reach your goals and shine your light brightly.
