One of the best things about coming to therapy is the amount of courage it took for you to get here. You know what you want out of life and you know when you are not getting it. There is nothing I dislike more than to see human suffering. I have gone through my own and was determined to not let it ruin my life. Sometimes all it takes is for you to feel heard, understood, and feel validated. Therapy is a collaboration between client and therapist and together we will focus on your strengths and help you understand your worthiness was never in question. Other times you may require more skills and techniques to learn in order to overcome your concerns and issues. My primary focus is anxiety, depression, self esteem, phobias, fears, women's issues, OCD symptoms, and finding meaning to life and answer questions like, why am I here? I also volunteered at a Hospice and did my internship there and have knowledge in grief and bereavement. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor and received my Bachelor of Arts through Ashford University and Masters in Science in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University. I have over 7 years experience working with people from 4 through 89 years of age. These people have taught me so much and I am blessed to do the work I do. I am very much a believer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as I know the way we think has a direct impact on the way we feel. I also utilize a Person Centered approach, meaning I follow my client's lead and the direction they wish to take. The great thing is, is that there are so many different sets of skills and interventions to use, you will find the ones that work best for you. It all depends on each individual's specific needs.

Life is a beautiful mess. Sometimes everything seems to be going our way. And other times, it can leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused, and unbalanced. My name is Beth and I would like to offer guidance and support as you navigate those ups and downs. Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I have worked in the mental health field since 1998. First, with my bachelors degree and later doing clinical work as I earned my master's degree. I believe taking care of our mental health should be as accepted and routine as taking care of our physical health. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to practice in a variety of settings and populations. I have worked with children in school settings, adolescents in psychiatric hospitalization, families in their homes and communities, and couples and adults through outpatient services. My professional style has evolved from these experiences. I rely on a common sense approach. Counseling is casual and conversational. We will work as a team; identifying strengths, setting goals, and overcoming barriers. Asking for help can be difficult. Trusting someone with your innermost thoughts may feel intimidating. Thank you for taking this first step. I look forward to meeting you.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in PA. I have been in the field over twenty years. I obtained my MA in Counseling in 2004. For the past seven years I have been working in a jail. I deal with patients with significant mental health diagnosis. I evaluate for suicide ideation, complete intakes and provide crisis intervention. I work with the officers to help understand the patients with mental health. As well as provide as needed counseling to officers that find a completed suicide. Prior to that I worked in a transitional housing program that also served people with significant mental health diagnosis. I have also worked as a mobile therapist, behavioral specialist consultant and was supervisor of a family support program. Due to the environment I currently work in I mainly utilize a solution-based focus therapy. Besides the patients with severe mental health, there are numerous patients with increased anxiety and depression. It is very focused on appropriate coping skills for the situation. I collaborate regularly with the CRNP and PA to address medication and physical concerns. I would enjoy the change of meeting with people outside of the jail setting. The therapy I can do there is limited, I would like to be able to expand more and work with a more diverse population of patients/clients.
