I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC/LPCC) with a strong background in providing therapeutic support, recently relocating from rural Pennsylvania to California. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Drama Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. As a therapist, I sometimes find it challenging to talk about myself, but I take this opportunity to model the value of self-reflection. At the core of my belief system are two critical principles: integrity and hope. I strive to bring my best self into everything I do; it’s this commitment that drew me to the field of counseling and has fueled my growth both personally and professionally. I believe that hope is the spark that ignites change, even in the face of daunting challenges or systemic barriers. My role as a therapist is to help others kindle that spark within themselves and use it to fuel their passions. I understand that reaching out for counseling can be a challenging first step, often accompanied by fears of the unknown or concerns about judgment. My approach is welcoming and non-judgmental, whether this is your first experience with therapy or you are seeking a fresh perspective. I draw upon positive practices to help individuals leverage their own strengths and creativity to achieve their goals. Creating an accepting and open environment is at the core of my practice. I work at your pace, encouraging personal growth while supporting you in recognizing your own potential and worth, even amidst the complexities of today’s world. My therapeutic focus is person-centered, aiming to help you discover and harness your strengths. I am committed to a trauma-informed, culturally aware approach, ensuring that therapy is tailored to your unique experiences and needs. I have been fortunate to have incredible experiences throughout my career in mental health, and these experiences have profoundly shaped who I am as both a person and a clinician. They are deeply infused into my ongoing efforts to advance mental health equity and integrity. If you have prior experience with therapy, I am keen to learn what has been effective for you. If past experiences have been challenging, I encourage open communication so we can tailor a strategy that truly works for you. My experience includes working with individuals in their homes, which has enhanced my adaptability to various therapeutic styles. I employ techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness practices, Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, and Reality-Based approaches. My goal is to empower you with tools to manage stress, challenge negative self-beliefs, and support your journey toward a healthier, happier life.

My name is Christine Abrams and I am glad you are reaching out through BetterHelp to make a positive change in your life. Therapy can be a great resource and support. The best therapy happens where there is a high level of trust between you and the counselor, so it's important to find a therapist who will be a good fit for you and the type of concerns you have. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, I have been providing therapy in community mental health centers, agencies, and colleges throughout my career. I have also managed therapy programs and provided supervision for counselors to obtain professional licensure. In over 35 years of providing therapy, I have worked with individuals of all ages and from all walks of life. I have worked with people who come in with concerns like stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, life changes, and parenting issues. Working through those challenges presents great opportunity for personal growth! The therapy I provide is based in client centered and family systems theories, while integrating other approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. This work is active and individualized. We discuss your concerns, develop priorities, and work together to accomplish your goals. I like to generate lots of options for clients to get the most out of our time together, so we may use books, helpful apps, or creative activities (like art or writing). All these would be specifically chosen for your unique concerns and interests. Since much of my training is in family work, I think about people in the context of their relationships, environment, and culture. I often ask about those topics, looking for the strengths in your life that we can harness and apply to your current concerns. I am looking forward to talking with you, helping you to develop positive strategies, and celebrating as you move forward!

Hello and welcome. I am an Ordained Minister (Rev), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in Pennsylvania. My background is in pastoral ministry (since January 2001). My wife and I have been married since June of 2000 and we have five children ranging in ages from 12 to 18. Over the past 23 years I have spent a lot of time in counseling with individuals, couples, and families helping them to overcome their struggles (Parenting, premarital and marital issues, ADHD, depression, anxiety, gambling and substance abuse and addiction, legal issues, religious issues, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, and many others). I desired to be better equipped to help, so I went back to get my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy which I completed in December of 2017. I was glad to be able to bring my real world experience to the classroom and I found that I was already putting into practice a lot of what I was studying. Over the years I have worked with clients from all walks of life. I've had clients from all faiths (and no faith) backgrounds, straight and LBGTQIA, children, teens, adults, parents, grandparents, and people in Hospice and their families. I believe that you are the expert of your life. I will help you find ways to utilize your strength to overcome your struggles and move you from your current situation to where you want to be. I will be your supporter, your cheerleader, your encourager, and your teammate. I believe that real change can start in the therapy session, but you make the change happen outside of session and in the real world. You can do it, you can achieve your goals. I'm looking forward to helping you do so.

It is so hard to ask for help but you have gotten this far, let me help you! My goal is to provide hope and guide you to a more fulfilling future! My name is Tara and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Behavior Specialist in Pennsylvania, also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For 6.5 years, I worked with children and adolescents with Autism and other mental health disorders and their guardians, managing their children's challenging behavior. This has also included co-parenting difficulties. I have 15 years' experience helping people who struggle with alcoholism and addiction. Also, pre COVID, I volunteered to assist and facilitate activities during the weekend-long (2015-2019) Camp Erin, Philadelphia (Eluna Network), as a cabin ‘Grief Chief'. This camp is geared toward helping children ages 6-17 process the death of a loved one. We created a fun and safe atmosphere where the children could express their feelings, tell their stories and memorialize their loved ones. I believe in treating my clients with dignity, respect and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, trauma-focused (because really- who makes it out of childhood without some kind of trauma!), and psychodynamic therapy.
