I am a licensed clinical and national board-certified counselor who has been a counseling professional with experience in educational and clinical settings for several years. I have additional years of experience in the non-profit sector, leadership development, and student success within higher education. I work with clients across the lifespan to address different issues that include and are not limited to depression and mood disorders, anxiety, stress, leadership and performance, ADHD, giftedness, and learning/ behavioral issues, grief and loss, and adjustments/transitions. Additionally, I have worked with athletes and performers at different levels (law, medicine, arts/entertainment, business, leadership, and technology) to address clinical concerns and mental skills. My current focus areas are clinical and leadership, sport, and performance. With my experience spanning settings for integrated behavioral health, private practice, and collegiate mental health, I also focus on assisting clients with concerns that disrupt wellness across domains (physical, emotional, professional/academic, spiritual, etc.). My approach to therapy is integrative, and my primary orientations are client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, strengths-based, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. I strive to provide affirming services grounded in multiculturally proficient knowledge of multiple identities that support clients' personal growth. Beginning counseling is a courageous step towards being one's best self. My role in the therapeutic relationship is to walk alongside clients and facilitate that process by creating a safe, brave, and comfortable space that empowers clients. Developing therapeutic goals is a collaborative process focusing on a client's strengths and values for optimal functionality. I look forward to working with you as you begin your journey towards growth that aligns with areas of overall wellness and life satisfaction for you.

Andrea Watson
Hello, let me introduce myself. I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2018, and I have licenses in Tennessee and California. My therapy style would be described as warm, with acceptance and understanding. Treating all clients with the respect, compassion, empathy, and positive regard. Incorporating a clients life experiences, personal beliefs and values, and their perspective into treatment and assisting in building insight and skills to handle any concern or opportunity. My theoretical orientation would be described as eclectic (leaning on Cognitive behavioral therapy, but also incorporating solution focused therapy, psychodynamic, narrative, existential, structural family therapy, to name a few.) because I believe that there are benefits from having the ability to offer different techniques that work for my client’s needs. I have worked with clients with a wide range of individual concerns and opportunities. Which I feel make me uniquely suited to help with depression, anxiety, dual diagnosis, addictions, relationship and parenting concerns, life, and career transitions. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse move forward in their lives by reshaping certain patterns of interaction into healthier ones. I look forward to working with you!

Welcome to counseling! I look forward to meeting you and assisting you in identifying and accomplishing your goals in a safe, supportive setting. I have 18 years counseling experience, have a BS in Human Development, a Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling from East Tennessee State University, and am licensed in North Carolina (LCMHC) and Tennessee (LPC-MHSP). I enjoy working with women and men, families, adolescents, all races, ethnicities, genders and sexual orientations. My treatment approach is cognitive behavioral, acceptance/commitment, person-centered, solution-focused, and I have found that working with a client usually leads us to a therapeutic approach which can be satisfactory and successful for the client. Taking the first step to come to counseling can give you a wonderful opportunity to clarify what has meaning to you, what may be lacking in the present or is holding you back from a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Once we identify these issues, we can address them positively, learn to use coping skills that may have been absent or forgotten, and have the opportunity to feel relief and momentum toward an improved present and future. It’s my personal belief that everyone benefits from counseling, whether they may be suffering from (and want to lessen) symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma from the past or the present, grief, behavioral problems, parenting or relationship challenges, communication or self esteem issues. Working with a client in the counseling setting, I believe in the importance of building a caring, empathic, non-judgmental relationship by meeting a client where she/he is in life. I believe in the strength, courage, and resilience inherent in all people and that most people who seek out counseling come because they are temporarily stuck, not sick.
