Welcome to BetterHelp! I am a licensed therapist with over twelve years of experience in individual, family, and group therapy. I am passionate about supporting others in their journey to find inner peace and balance. Mental health often creates barriers to the ability to have healthy relationships, motivation to utilize healthy coping skills, and to find joy in daily life. I am currently licensed in Tennessee as a LCSW (#6086) and am a nationally certified TFCBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist) nationwide. I have experience in working with individuals, families and adolescents on a variety of life issues such as; depression, anxiety, mood, anger, family conflict, relationships, and trauma. I have training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and Play Therapy. My treatment style is rooted in a client or family centered psycho-dynamic approach. I have provided services in outpatient, inpatient, school based, detention, and in-home settings. I am a survivor of childhood trauma. Being a survivor has given me the belief that there is always hope and that nothing in life is final, but ever changing with possibilities. If you are seeking to go on a journey to heal, achieve mental health wellness, then you have to look no farther. You will find connection that is based in empathy. We all need someone to reach out to and who can say, "Me too".

Life can be so hard. I know that it takes great courage to ask for help. I consider it one of the greatest honors of my life to be able to walk alongside people in the midst of their struggles through the field of counseling. I received my Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's in Professional Counseling at Liberty University. I spent 5 years counseling female and male college students surrounding numerous struggles. I then counseled in a private practice setting for 2 years and saw adolescents through senior adults. I have nearly 3000 clinical face-to-face hours counseling people in need. I have helped clients with Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Eating Disorders, Trauma, Spiritual Concerns, Adjustment Disorders, Relationship Conflict, and Family Issues. I typically include a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Attachment Therapy, and/or Emotion Focused Therapy to enter into a client’s story. I assess the depth of pain and impact the client’s history has had on one's current affect, thought processes, and relationships. I then utilize various tools to help clients continue to move forward in forming healthier behaviors, emotional responses, self-talk, and relationships. My goal is to empower the client to make decisions that lead to a hope filled future.

Kelly Sheets
I am a licensed professional counselor and mental health service provider (LPC-MHSP) in TN. I have over 5+ years of experience in treating PTSD, specifically combat-related; substance use disorder; borderline personality disorder in men primarily; OCD; and other issues typically found in a mental health setting. I've spent the majority of my career working in a residential alcohol and drug program, which afforded me the opportunity to work with co-morbid disorders/issues that feed into addiction. I have assisted people in confronting personality issues, trauma, and have helped clients learn to balance their intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. I am also actively involved in research in a university setting. I received a Bachelors of Science in Clinical Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from East Tennessee State University. My therapy style is highly conversational and casual with a primary foundation in Existential therapy. I utilize other modalities as needed or as is appropriate to the individual and situation. I have a background in social psychology, which I find beneficial during therapy as the principles are often at the core of many behaviors and attitudes/beliefs. Understanding social psychological theories and how they present within individuals serves to normalize our human experiences by showing that we are not alone. I believe that every individual knows the best way to live their lives, but sometimes may need someone to provide insight, guidance, or serve as a sounding board for thought processes/emotions/fears. I have a specific interest and a research background in PTSD surrounding combat. Seeking help in general, but especially following a traumatic event, is courageous. The first step is reaching out and I am here to assist you in this experience.

I am dedicated to helping my clients build bridges to a healthier, happier life. Are you going through a big change? Life calls us into constant change. Whether planned and joyful or unexpected and grief filled: changes in relationships; parenting; or career - they take their toll on each of us. Healing through grieving, stretching, adjusting, and growing can be blocked when you feel overwhelming emotions, when you are fearful and avoidant of what is to come, and when you simply don't know how to move ahead. I listen to, support, and teach my clients to help reduce anxiety, depression, and stress that comes with life transitions. I specialize in helping individuals make changes in the way they work, resolve difficult issues, take action and move forward with their plans. Maybe you feel you have reached a glass ceiling and want to move your personal and professional life forward, yet you don't or can't find the time and space to work ON rather than IN your business. I will work with you to process the changes, to cope when the hard times are upon you, and to learn skills to improve the daily choices that you make I know that the decision to begin therapy. To admit that you're not sure what comes next in your life, to imagine yourself in a better place takes courage, and I consider it an honor to help.
