Valerie Holcomb
Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor licensed in Texas with over 15 years of experience working as a therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, PTSD, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD and ADHD. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families in both individual and group sessions. The settings I have worked in include, inpatient hospitals, inpatient and outpatient substance use disorder treatment facilities, community mental health clinics, schools, wilderness challenge camps, school campuses, and correctional facilities. After hours, I spend a great deal of time volunteering in the community. I have focused a great deal of hours helping veterans via groups and individual counseling, as well as, PTSD awareness campaigns. I have also spent a great deal of time working with local and state mental health advocacy programs such as NAMI, Behavioral Health Advisory Council and many others. My counseling style is warm, interactive, and laid back. I listen. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, cognitive processing therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. My primary motivation is to help facilitate changes in behaviors based upon the client's needs and goals. I have worked with a range of clientele from strongly motivated to very resistant. The foundation is creating a therapeutic alliance and setting a pace toward client independence. Seeing the potential in each of my clients is great, but helping you see your own potential is beautiful. It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Then, if you are ready, we can work on making small and larger changes that will improve your quality of life. For years, I have worked with professionals; these experiences have helped me identify what makes people successful and happy. Let me help you build a better life by showing you how to examine your past and develop a more intentional and meaningful life.

I help individuals work through the layers of life experience to create a path to living their best and healthiest life. Individuals that have a high level of success while working with me have these five things in common: 1. They are ready to commit to their personal growth 2. They see the value in developing a new mindset and emotional skillset. 3. They are committed to building their self-value, esteem, and confidence. 4. They are done making excuses. 5. They are open to trusting the process of therapy. I am licensed in Oklahoma and Texas with over a decade of professional work experience. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. Let’s get started.
