You may have come to this site because you're hurting, dealing with issues of life that you just can't seem to figure out, or simply searching for a safe place to share your thoughts and the things that are on your heart and mind. Or maybe you're facing disappointment, anger, or resentment, and at times you feel like you want to throw in the towel. There is good news... I am here to walk with you and help you move from merely surviving to thriving! I became a therapist because I believe that everyone deserves to have somebody that they can be transparent with and receive insight oriented feedback about what is troubling them in their lives. Helping people connect the dots and discover the purpose in those life events and experiences is what I believe is the key to a better life. By coming here it means that you have taken the 1st step to getting better and I would be happy to help. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Doctorate from Barry University and Bachelor's and Master's degree from The University of Texas @ Arlington with over 15 years of varied experience working with children, adults, couples, and families in a variety of settings providing both long term and brief interventions. Areas of expertise include: Anxiety & Depression, Relationship challenges, Family conflict, Phases of life changes, and next steps. I welcome clients with these particular struggles. I use a variety of therapeutic tools and tailor treatment to the individual, couple, or family. I believe that change happens when people are given the insight they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives and get back to the "normal" that we all desire. In my free time I love traveling, spending time with my family, and giving back through various service projects in my community. Helping people is my passion and helping you would give me joy!

I am passionate about helping others live a life of purpose, passion, and excellence in all areas of their lives. We all face uncertain & difficult seasons in our lives and we aren’t designed to walk through them alone. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, Texas Licensed Professional Counselor, and Board Certified Telemental Health Provider. I earned my Masters in Counseling Degree from Dallas Baptist University in 2009. Before starting my counseling career, I was a middle school teacher and sports coach for over ten years, where I gained much experience in working with adolescents, teenagers, and their families. I have worked as a therapist in the Christian Counseling setting, where I worked with individuals, couples, adolescents, and teens, the Nonprofit setting, where I worked with families with young children who were facing times of crises, and most recently the Private Practice setting, where I launched SOAR Counseling LLC, my own private counseling practice here in DFW. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, marriage problems, codependency, covert/hidden narcissistic abuse, psychological, emotional, and spiritual abuse. I am grateful to have the opportunity to come alongside you and help you navigate through life’s difficult seasons and transitions in a way that promotes authentic happiness, health, and healing.

For many of us, myself included, counseling often becomes a process that refuses to come full circle. We are seeking help, but that help seems to elude us and we struggle finding the right fit or the right method that might provide the direction we need. I was inspired to pursue counseling as a career by my desperate need for help along my life path, and my desire to provide that guidance and compassion to others, in a clear and consistent way. I want my clients to know that although I may not have experienced exactly what you are going through, I want to be able to provide you with the power to gain some peace, and wade through that difficulty with you. You are not a problem to be solved, nor do your life issues define you. I hope to be a safe place for you, and a reminder that we all struggle and need support. I want to work alongside you to find the best way to get you to the place you want to be, using the training, knowledge, and skills I have developed to provide you encouragement and insight. Education: M.A., Professional Counseling, Liberty University. M.A., Human Services-Marriage & Family Therapy, Liberty University. B.S. Environmental Policy & Biology, Western Maryland University.

My name is Deborah Marlin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I have lived in a variety of countries and states and find that I have a diverse perspective about most everything. For the past twenty years I have lived on a ranch but don’t ask me about livestock or pastures! I enjoy people and find counseling a fascinating endeavor. I have graduated from the University of Texas and the University of Missouri and have trained over the years in a variety of approaches. My work setting has been with the military and family members in Germany, private rehabilitation in Texas, the school system in Texas, and then I continue to work in public mental health while seeing clients in my private practice. Trauma Informed Care is stressed at the mental health facility where I do some work and in work in my private practice. The work I do with children and families is not much different from that with individuals who have experienced trauma along with boundary and attachment issues. I find Cognitive Behavior Therapy to be a very useful technique but what I use is determined by the needs of each client. I find counseling to be an adventure that can yield very positive results
