Jessica Mitchell
Hello there. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 6 years of experience working as a psychotherapist and over 10 years of experience as a life coach. I have primarily worked with clients dealing with various concerns including depression and anxiety, self-esteem/self-worth, relationship issues, sexual orientation, and career challenges. I also aid in helping people deal with trauma from racial oppression and violence. My counseling style is direct and caring, with you as the leader and expert of your experience. I meet you where you are and begin with strengthening the foundation you will build on. Whatever ideations, thoughts, and beliefs you currently have will be used and/or challenged in an environment that allows you to safely, freely, and openly express them. Aside from safety concerns, this is a completely judge free zone no matter the culture/subculture, gender, pronoun, or race. I create and uphold an environment of MUTUAL respect of boundaries and you are able to go at your pace. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, experiential, psychodynamic, and motivational-interviewing which would be tailored to your needs. I believe in elevating the personal power within and guide you towards accessing that. Living in truth looks different for everyone. Let's find out what it looks like, for you!

Everyone has a story to tell. Whether it be long or short. It is your story. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with board certification and Master Certified Health Coach, I want to hear your story. Why? Because it is your story and you deserve to tell it. Your story could be about happiness, love, hurt, anger, stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions and grief just to name a few. Sometimes all anyone wants to do is tell someone caring and compassionate their perspective regarding their story. As a therapist, I believe in giving everyone I meet a clean, unbiased slate. No judgment here. I will use a holistic (mind and body), open-minded and solution-focused approach in assisting anyone in telling their story, processing the events and moving forward with their life goals. I will support and at times coach you on practical ways to build tools to help you navigate this thing we call life. My purpose is to help anyone who may be having struggles and needs help moving in the right direction. My intention is to assist and encourage as many people to become healthier and more well-rounded individuals both mentally and physically. I am able to discuss and treat a variety of behavior health concerns with the adult population (18+). I am trained in and able to use several therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness training, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) models while using my motivational interviewing skills to assist you in processing your story.

I believe that true healing comes from addressing the whole person; mind, body and soul. I utilize client centered interventions to develop a therapeutic alliance, that meets you where you are and work with you to develop a client invested treatment plan. I structure my counseling style to include educational components to help you understand the why. The treatment approaches I ascribe to are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution Focused (Brief) Therapy. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. However, I am also available to you via phone if that is more comfortable for you. My availability is in the evenings and on Saturday mornings, I check messages everyday except Sunday. I am licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been providing clinical services for eighteen years.
