Angela Noah-Rico
Welcome, and thank you for taking this first courageous step...reaching out for support!! Here's a little about me. My name is Angela Noah-Rico and I am a native Texan. I have learned much about perseverance and determination in my life but some of my lessons had to be learned from falling and making mistakes. As humans, we do make mistakes and run into difficulties, but even in these less than graceful moments, valuable lessons can be learned and character can be strengthened. I feel that I have been through very challenging experiences that have given me a broader view and empathy for what others may be experiencing. I have known the challenges of having to work, attend college, attend my child's school and sporting events, cook, clean and perform all of the other countless responsibilities on my own. All of these factors have made me more cognizant of the struggles that others face. As your therapist, you can expect me to tune in closely to your experiences and work in close collaboration with you as we explore your unique challenges but also your unique journey, strengths and resiliency. A little about my education, experience, and therapeutic approach: I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in psychology from the University of Texas-San Antonio and graduated with my Master's Degree in community counseling from Wayland Baptist University. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients to include individuals dealing with grief/loss issues, with children in a residential treatment center setting, children/adolescents/adults in inpatient/outpatient hospital settings, individuals struggling with drug/alcohol addiction, active duty service members dealing with PTSD, and civilian patients who have experienced various forms of trauma. As I studied to obtain my degree in counseling, I became interested in different therapeutic approaches but one that stood out to me was Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), in that it has been very effective in treating multiple concerns such as anxiety, depression, panic, eating disorders and much more. I attempt to adjust my treatment approach to best fit the needs of my clients but I often take either a Cognitive Behavioral approach, which addresses thought and behavioral change, or a Solution-Focused approach, to assist clients in brainstorming and coming up with practical and healthy solutions to their concerns. As a therapist, I genuinely and enthusiastically look forward to assisting clients in realizing their strengths, maximizing their potential, and seeing healthy changes in their lives! Again, I applaud you for exhibiting such strength in reaching out for support during this time in your life!

I have worked with patients from 12 years old to 80 years old. I have worked with issues that range from depression to schizophrenia. I take a holistic, open minded, therapeutic approach with all my clients. I wish the best outcome that you can imagine. Every treatment plan will be based on your needs - your goals. I do not believe that we all fit nicely into the same box. Everyone is an individual and walks their own path, that includes me. I have a very open view of religion and metaphysics. I can provide Spiritual Guidance when requested. I am working on a degree in Metaphysical science and on becoming an ordained minister. I do not believe in one religion over the other. I believe in helping you on your spiritual journey.

I believe successful therapy depends on clients honestly sharing their experiences and behavior. Yet many clients struggle to articulate their feelings, sharing these feelings with a stranger, even a therapist, can be difficult. It takes time for a therapist to earn a client’s trust. My goal is to build a therapeutic relationship with you to enhance a safer and supportive therapeutic environment. I believe in providing personalized service. I specialize in various therapeutic techniques including, Trauma-Informed Care, Person-Centered Therapy & Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I work with individuals struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use. I believe therapy should reflect a mutual partnership ensuring acceptance & compassion.
