My name is Aimee Morris, LPC, LMFT. I have been practicing since 1991. I received my Bachelors degree (B.S.) from Texas Tech University (Human Development & Family Studies, Minor in Substance Abuse) in 1991 and my Masters degree (M.A.) from University of Louisiana of Monroe, LA (Marriage & Family Therapy). I received both my Licensed Professional Counselor license and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapy license in 1996. Over the years, I have worked at a non-profit agency (YWCA in Monroe, La.), an in/outpatient psychiatric hospital (ETMC Behavioral Health Center, Tyler, TX), and a multi-specialty group practice (East Texas Mental Health Associates, Tyler, TX). Currently, I am in solo private practice in Tyler, TX. These opportunities have given me a variety of experience & training working with all types of issues, populations, and cultures. In my professional experience, I have seen that sometimes life can become stressful, challenging, and definitely overwhelming. Whether you or your family are dealing with marriage problems, issues with your children, extended family conflict, or an individual problem, reaching out to a neutral party can help see things differently. Occasionally, people make choices to try to correct their problems, when in turn, it can make these problem even more difficult. Whether they stem from an unhealthy marriage/relationship, career/job unhappiness, family problems, or just feeling "stuck" in your situation, there are answers. My job is to help clients learn more effective methods of dealing with these stressors, assist clients to see the pattern that has been created, and guide them in a different direction.

I'm a therapist because I believe that each of us has dignity and worth as human beings. I believe that you have the ability to change your life and to heal yourself if you have the tools and the support. I would like to help you by providing tools and being a part of the support you need to change your life and heal yourself. I hope to help you honor and love every aspect of yourself during our work together. I am a licensed clinical social worker licensed in the state of Texas. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, behavioral addictions, and relationship issues. I also helped many people who have experienced sexual, physical, and emotional trauma. My counseling style is warm and understanding. I provide a safe space to honestly express how you are feeling and what you are thinking. My approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, strengths based therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy. During our first few conversations I'd like to set some goals for therapy together to give us some direction for our work together. I don't want us to be tied down to these goals, our work together will be fluid and we will change our goals as your needs change. You've already made the most important step in healing and changing your life by giving yourself the gift of therapy. I really admire the courage and vulnerability it takes to speak honestly with me about what you want and what you need. I can't wait to get started!
