I'm so happy you're here and so happy that you're taking an important step towards positive change in your life. Nothing brings me more joy than to be able to be a part of your journey while we work towards your goals. I've been partnering with adults for the past 8 years in private practice as a licensed therapist and 3 years as a life coach working with college-aged adults. Former and current clients appreciate my honest straightforward approach to counseling as well as my ability to patiently and compassionately hold space for answers to emerge. The struggles of life are not meant to be all-consuming or overwhelming and as self-sufficient as most of us are, we all need help at some point. I know I've benefitted from being able to talk through my worries and concerns with the help of a trained therapist and know what the experience is like in either seat. I was trained in pastoral counseling and at Loyola University in Chicago and can assist if your concerns are more spiritual in nature and when they are not take a more traditional approach. I draw from relational schools of thought- psychodynamic, humanistic and Adlerian but apply them in a straightforward pragmatic fashion to keep the process brief and effective. Having been trained and educated in diverse settings, I have experience working with many different types of people with many different concerns. In particular, spiritual and religious questions, LGBT issues, anxiety and coping with grief and loss are areas that I can support you the most. I look forward to working with you as we take the next steps in your journey together.

Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with M.A. in Psychology & Counseling in Texas practicing over 10 years. I have worked with various age groups, ethnicities, genders under different settings, i.e., hospitals, residentials, private firms, & etc. I have experiences of working with various issues including various mood disorders/issues as well as personality disorders, ptsd, family issues, couples issues, gender issues, & more. I believe in resolving issues by exploring the root of the problem behaviors whether they be anxiety, depression, OCD, or relationship conflict. Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Psycho Dynamic approaches are among my favorites to work with. I enjoy analyzing with my clients their thought patterns & behavior tendencies through exploring their childhood & current life to find some answers that they are looking for. It’s the best! Some times the process can be painful. That’s our defense mechanism stripping. It will be worth it though, when you make it there:) Regards, Katy Kong

We live in busy times with many responsibilities as students, workers, children, and as a parent, or any combination of these. It is easy to become overworked, set high expectations of ourselves, and can become exhausted with our own efforts, struggling to find purpose, optimism, and motivation. I believe that when we slow down and have someone to check in with, we can find our way back to what we believe is our path, our purpose, and/or be more present in our lives. Checking in with our habits, behaviors and our emotions and intuition can tell us if and when we are thriving in life. I also believe in the resilience and capacity for growth within every individual, however, sometimes due to trauma or patterns of behavior, we become stuck. One may know their behavior is unhealthy or preventing growth, yet unaware of how to change. The process of therapy is exploring what is stopping you from living your best life and offering support and guidance to make changes. I have experience helping clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, adjustment to life transitions, relationship issues, and parenting concerns. My therapeutic style is collaborative, person-centered, and solution focused. I am friendly, passionate, optimistic, and show up authentically in the therapy room. I frequently use a psychodynamic approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT/DBT/ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
