Welcome! I commend you for taking the courageous step towards building a therapeutic connection. It's a significant decision to seek counseling, and I am honored to accompany you on your journey to overcome any challenges you may be encountering. As a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas, I bring eight years of valuable experience as a school counselor, working extensively with children aged 4-10 and their families. Additionally, I have three years of experience with BetterHelp and my private practice. My expertise lies in assisting individuals dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, self-esteem challenges, and grief. Being the spouse of a first responder, I am particularly passionate about supporting those navigating the unique challenges often associated with such professions. In my approach to treatment, I prioritize a client-centered method. This means providing you with a non-judgmental space, empathetic listening, and an opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I also incorporate techniques from solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral therapies to enhance the therapeutic process. My commitment is to ensure that every client feels at ease and that a foundation of trust is established between us. Your well-being and growth are my priorities, and I look forward to working collaboratively with you.

I graduated with my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During my Masters internship I worked within a PCP clinic providing integrated behavioral consultation to patients who came in complaining of physical ailments that held roots in behavioral management. The mind and the body are one and equally impact one another in wellness. This insight greatly impacted my perspective when working with other populations as well. After I acquired my LPC certification, I spent my time working with individuals who experienced more severe mental illness such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar disorders, major depression, and mixed psychotic features. This experience further facilitated observations of mind-body co-morbidity, systems dysfunction, and environmental stressors. Because of these observations, my approach is very holistic (looking at the "whole" of the person and "whole" system by which the person exists) and is person centered. In terms of therapeutic approaches, there is no "one size fits all" therapeutic approach, and thus, I try my best to get a sense of personality and perceptions before diving into technique. Sometimes I use the help of free assessment tools to gain a better picture of the person as well, if the individual is willing to engage in this way. I always want those in sessions to be an active participant in their own treatment planning, and for this reason usually utilize a collaborative approach to therapy and direction. People describe me as dedicated, intuitive, down to earth, and understanding. We all get lost sometimes, it's part of life. I will do my best to help you form the best map to get you to wherever you are headed. There are several paths to the same destination, but the path that works best for you can only be decided BY you. So lets figure out which path that is, together.

I would look forward to working with you with what you have been experiencing and creating a comfortable, safe space and for building deeper understanding and coping strategies that can help. I can accept clients who are able to fit into my Tues/Thurs morning schedule at this time from about 9:15-11:30 am, varies by the week or I will try to find a daytime appt that could work within my Tues/Thurs availability. Clients on the mostly messaging plan with 1 session per month would be a good fit with me, but I will have more Tu/Th morning/day availability by mid-August. We would be able to use the messaging often for therapeutic feedback, coping and communication strategies, worksheets, suggestions and to gain perspective. I will typically be able to respond to your message by the end of the day or within 24 hrs. I only offer individual counseling and not couples or family counseling. I am licensed in Texas with 12 years of professional work experience. I am easy to talk to and a great listener. Whether I am counseling or in my personal life, people naturally feel comfortable opening up with me. I believe in counseling to help you build on and recognize your strengths. The more you open yourself up to counseling, the more you will benefit. My clients often ask me if I have ever heard of anyone else having similar feelings and difficulties that they are experiencing and I reassure them that they are not alone. Together, we will create and enhance ways of coping that will work for you. I specialize and enjoy working with adult individuals, both male and female, with anxiety, depression, life transition, relationship, or stress management difficulties. I have a deep interest and am happy to be certified by Postpartum Support International to work with women with mood difficulties both during and after pregnancy. I look forward to meeting you soon!
