If you or someone you know is having a hard time with relationships, managing emotions, overcoming stress and turmoil, or if the past continues to trouble your present, talking with a therapist may help. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with individuals and families, I can assist in supporting you through your challenges while helping you develop tools and strategies to make a difference in your life. You deserve a better healthy life. Let’s become partners in your wellness, let’s navigate together the coping skills that will allow you to move forward and pursue your goals to get more out of life. Let me share a little bit about my experience with you...I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University of New York in 2001. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey, New Hampshire and Vermont. Worked in a school district for more than 20 years in a unique position where I assisted families and staff to bridge that gap between home and school, offered informative educational workshops, parenting training, advocacy, and was part of an intervention team to support student and parent success. On a part-time basis for more than 15 years I have been working with couples, individuals, children and their families to address particular needs, improve their relationship and communication. I have also provided clinical supervision to experienced and new therapists for 3 years. I have been a guest speaker a few times for a graduate course at William Paterson University for teachers where I have discussed the importance of family engagement and partnering with students’ parents/guardians. I had training of more than 50 hours to be a crisis response team member to go out on a domestic violence crisis call in partnership with the local police and provided emotional support, education, and community resources to the victim. Languages I’m fluent in: English and Spanish.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in New Hampshire and Vermont.. I have a particular interest in the aging population . I encourage my clients to cultivate and maintain a constellation of people, places and things that promote interdependence. My adult clients tell me that I help them to see their situations from an new angle. Therapy is an opportunity to discover new ways of thinking about one or more situations. I understand how frightening this can be. I continue to learn from my clients in a community mental center. It is important that my clients give me feedback about their therapy experience. Building and practicing effective communication is key in my relationship with clients.

Catherine (Cate) Beaton
My Journey began as a paramedic in Hartford, Connecticut. At the age of 20, I saw firsthand the physical and psychological suffering humans experience. It was in those vulnerable moments with others that I realized that how we connect is as important as what we do. It put me on the path of seeking ways to understand this experience and the world around us. Towards this end, I completed a Master's Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, countless continuing education courses on trauma and behavior and have recently completed my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. As a Clinical and Executive Director, supporting my coworkers and supervisees became a core component to my true north (or calling). It provided me the opportunity to support those who work in the helping professions and give of themselves to support others. In addition to the skills I developed and refined, it also strengthened my belief that relationships and people are at the core of our collective health. I have experienced the profound effect that a strong therapeutic relationship can have and my 10 years of clinical supervision experience has taught me the importance of creating a safe space for people to explore who they are. Ultimately I seek to give the gift of being seen, heard, and understood to those around me.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. I currently primarily work with children and adolescents, but I have experience working with adults who have experienced trauma and impairment due to mental health disorders. I find I gravitate towards client centered therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Part of following a client centered therapy approach is focusing on the therapeutic fit. This means I want to make sure that I am the best therapist for your needs. I view my role as a therapist as an opportunity for you to share your experience in an environment free of judgment. I will follow your lead to determine what goals you wish to work on. There may be times where you want a listening ear and other times you may want to problem solve. My intention is to meet you where you are at. If you are looking to problem solve I will guide you through the process by helping you explore your behavior and thoughts, and establish goals for change. I generally check messages here a few times per day Monday-Friday and respond as quickly as I can. I do appreciate your patience when it takes a bit longer at times, as I may be tending to other clients or professional/personal responsibilities. My practice hours are 5pm-7:30pm Monday - Friday. Sometimes I am able to respond to messages outside those hours. You can also book a live session with me ahead of time. Please remember that BetterHelp (or specialty site.) is not appropriate if you are in crisis or in immediate need of support. In crisis situations, please call 911, 988, or local emergency services.
