I started as a therapist because I wanted to use the many experiences I have had in life to help others navigate their own. I am currently licensed in Wisconsin. In 2006, I earned a master's degree in criminal justice. Then, in 2013, I went back to school to get a master's degree in counseling. My client base consists of those who have experienced trauma, those who are survivors of domestic violence, and those with anxiety, depression, adjustment and relationship concerns, and addiction. I have worked with the homeless, the addicted, the abused, the abuser, the clergy, the parent, and countless others. The approaches I use in therapy depend on the person I am working with and the issues they are struggling with. Some issues need a more cognitive response, some a somatic-based response, and other a Biblical response. Still, others need a behavioral response, and others a solution-focused response. I think the reason I can help is because I have a wide array of life experiences, combined with a solid education, and laid back demeanor. My current clients often comment on how relaxed and easy to talk to I am; this is something I pride myself on. I also work hard to get to know my clients and their stories. I am in constant study to make sure I am informed and equipped to help.

Hello and welcome! As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I believe in a strength based approach to personal healing and growth. As a therapist, I respect the opportunity to work with individuals and families struggling with grief and loss by providing a safe place to share, learn and heal. I foster empathy and acceptance as patients and families address life changing diagnoses and care needs. With over ten years of experience providing support to individuals and caregivers struggling with dementia and mood related issues, I utilize an integrated approach including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychotherapy. I seek to empower individuals and families with the knowledge and tools they need to promote dignity and wellness. Finally, my background in grief and loss counseling has also prepared me to address the unrecognized and often untreated issues associated with pet loss, specifically the complicated and overwhelming emotions associated with chronic and terminal care of a pet, related end of life issues, and the emotionally challenging process of pet surrender. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Your insight and willingness to seek support is the first step toward healing and growth. I wish you the best on your journey!

Hi, my name is Anne Jessen and I live in a small town in Iowa. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Iowa, and have been licensed since 2011. I’ve also been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Wisconsin since 2021. I received my Master's degree in mental health counseling in 2006 from the University of Northern Iowa. I greatly enjoy helping others, and working together with clients to assist them in achieving their goals and reaching their highest potential. I understand that life can be challenging, and sometimes we need someone who will listen and guide us through difficult times. I use a client-centered and collaborative approach, often utilizing empathy and acceptance. I also take a cognitive-behavioral approach to counseling, as I believe that improving thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can improve an individual's overall quality of life. I have experience working with depression, bipolar disorder, stress, and grief/loss. However, I don't have specialized training in treating issues related to trauma. I have spent approximately the past 14 years working in the mental health and substance abuse fields, in both non-profit and private practice locations. I am so glad that you decided to reach out for help and I look forward to partnering with you to discuss your needs and inspire you to reach your goals. *Please note, at this time, I am only conducting sessions using messaging/live chat. Therefore, I am not utilizing video or phone at this time. If you are interested in being matched with a therapist who utilizes phone or video sessions, l will gladly provide you with the information on how to transfer. Let me know if you have any questions.

The wheels are spinning – in your head and your life. Overthinking, indecisiveness, and fear of making mistakes keep your mind and body on edge. It’s overwhelming – to the point that you feel beat up and defeated most of the time. It also makes you feel like you’re an imposter – a fraud. You know you have talents and that God put you on this earth for a reason, but it feels hidden and elusive. And even if you knew what it was, you wonder if you would ever measure up or be good enough. “Maybe I’m just broken” is a familiar refrain. If only you knew what to do or had someone to guide you, perhaps things would be different. I help individuals like you who feel lost in their identity and purpose, burdened by overthinking, anxiety, and unresolved trauma. Through a faith-centered approach and using a variety of clinical theories, I can guide you in processing your emotions, reframing limiting beliefs, and building unshakeable confidence. Our work together is more than just healing - it's about rediscovering your true self, aligning with your spiritual values, and stepping boldly into a renewed sense of purpose, peace, and empowerment. I earned my Master of Science degree in professional clinical mental health counseling at University of WI-Oshkosh. Prior to having my own private practice, I worked as a therapist, dual-diagnosis therapist, and crisis worker serving diverse populations of all ages and with a wide variety of concerns. I have specialized training in DBT, CBT, EMDR, hypnotherapy, IFS, ACT, ADHD, anxiety, Christian life coaching, and have worked as a certified integrative health coach. I have specialized in somatic healing techniques and neuroscience as well. I utilize a strength-based, compassion-led, eclectic mix of therapies based on client needs. I believe in educating clients to help them gain knowledge and feel empowered to make changes and to grow and in treating the whole person – mind, heart, body, and spirit.
