Excelling as a nontraditional learner, I graduated from the University of Phoenix-AZ majoring in Psychology and received her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University-MN and is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior fro Capella University- MN. Tiffany learned how to balance many aspects of life from being a single parent, working full-time while pursing her degrees online to the changing roles of becoming a blended family. These nontraditional roles have helped to create meaning and shared experience with clients as our roles are often changing, unexpectedly at times. While we are the experts of our own lives it is my goal to help clients balance the many challenges of life by providing a supportive and nonjudgmental environment utilizing a multi-systems approach to therapy that is as unique as each client. I have completed Level 1 of the Gottman method of couples therapy, Ienjoys working with couples to enhance and/or improve their relationships by providing a way for couples to become more in tune with themselves and each other. I take pride in working as an ally to the LGBTQ community to help overcome the challenges of being part of a marginalized population in order to affirm who you are, as a person, as well do my part to educate others.

I appreciate that you are looking for ways to change things. Change is one of the hardest things that a person can do. It's right up there with asking for help. It just doesn't come naturally sometimes. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in Wisconsin and Minnesota. I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, I am a Clinical Trauma Professional, and a Clinical Family Trauma Professional, and I am a Certified Anxiety Treatment Professional. I earned my Master's degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Wisconsin at Stout. I have worked in in-home settings, private practice, outpatient therapy settings, day treatment with children and teens. I have worked with families, couples, and individuals with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, family and couple conflict, communication skills, infidelity, and many other topics. I believe that my role is to listen to people with an open mind. I enjoy hearing people's stories and learning about what is going well and what isn't. I really like to help people to identify what they would like to improve without judgment, and then provide them with the skills to make it happen. I also believe that people are the experts of their own lives. I like to help clients to find the skills that fit them and that work for them in their own way. My first priority is seeing a client get what they need to reach their goals in a genuine and authentic way.

I use a cognitive behavioral therapy approach with my clients. My focus is to help clients recognize how their thinking about life events and situations is causing their unhealthy response and negative feelings. This process of changing your thoughts patterns can be challenging as it will involve letting go of long-held beliefs. During your counseling sessions, you will probably recieve homework assignments to complete and new behaviors to try out. Your willingness to step out of your comfort zone and try new beliefs and different behaviors will impact how beneficial your counseling is for you. I look forward to working with you.

Hi, my name is Anne Jessen and I live in a small town in Iowa. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Iowa, and have been licensed since 2011. I’ve also been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Wisconsin since 2021. I received my Master's degree in mental health counseling in 2006 from the University of Northern Iowa. I greatly enjoy helping others, and working together with clients to assist them in achieving their goals and reaching their highest potential. I understand that life can be challenging, and sometimes we need someone who will listen and guide us through difficult times. I use a client-centered and collaborative approach, often utilizing empathy and acceptance. I also take a cognitive-behavioral approach to counseling, as I believe that improving thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can improve an individual's overall quality of life. I have experience working with depression, bipolar disorder, stress, and grief/loss. However, I don't have specialized training in treating issues related to trauma. I have spent approximately the past 14 years working in the mental health and substance abuse fields, in both non-profit and private practice locations. I am so glad that you decided to reach out for help and I look forward to partnering with you to discuss your needs and inspire you to reach your goals. *Please note, at this time, I am only conducting sessions using messaging/live chat. Therefore, I am not utilizing video or phone at this time.
