It takes a great deal of courage to reach out for help when struggling emotionally, physically, and or behaviorally. Let me introduce myself. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), who has been working as a therapist, with a variety of clients, for the last 15 years. It is important to me that everyone be treated with respect and dignity no matter what they are dealing with in their life. I achieved a Masters Degree in Social Work at West Virginia University and have completed 70 hours towards Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certification. As a therapist it is my goal to provide compassion, understanding, and support without discrimination, stigmatization, and or judgement. I have worked effectively with clients who are dealing with Addiction, ADHD, Anxiety, Anger, Bipolar, Career Challenges, Depression, Domestic Violence, Medical Issues/Diagnoses, Parenting Problems, PTSD, Stress, Trauma, and Weight Loss. Your struggle is real no matter how difficult or what others may think is not important. My therapy style is interactive and client centered. My therapeutic approach consists of Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Impact, Gestalt, and Solution Focused along with therapeutic techniques and activities, based on individual needs, to help you to achieve your goals. I am straightforward but also empathetic to the needs of my clients. If you are ready and able to commit to taking the first step, we can work together to help you to achieve a happier and more fulfilling life through a commitment towards change. I am here to support and empower you throughout the process. I’m excited and looking forward to be working with you!

Like many therapists, I came to this calling after many years of doing other things. Professionally, this meant translation (Russian to English), which taught me how to pop in and out of vastly different ways of looking at the world. There was also raising children, tending to a marriage and friendships, and falling in love with an artistic hobby, I have been a therapist for 20 years now. For most of those years, I worked at a community mental health clinic, where I worked with people from a huge variety of backgrounds and ways of experiencing the world. Many were very poor. Many were very sick, sometimes psychotic. I learned how to see reality through many different lenses and to join forces with my clients to make life better. After these decades, I think I have developed a fairly clear approach to helping others, which I will try to explain below. Life can be very confusing. When a person walks into a therapy room for the first time, they are often emotionally bruised and looking for some clarity about their world and their own responses to events and circumstances. It is a privilege for me as a therapist to help the people I work with to make sense of it all. I help my clients learn to listen to themselves with respect, compassion, and curiosity. People can develop this courageous curiosity when they learn to have faith that whatever they find out about themselves makes sense and is coming from a decent place. It is often difficult to cultivate the habit of validating one's own thoughts and feelings (especially if one has long experience of doing the opposite), but it is extremely rewarding as the changes begin to be noticeable.

Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process! Many clients have told me that I become quickly familiar, with a direct but laid-back, humorous and easy to interact with personality. In therapy, you'll be learning about YOU! A lot. Past, present, future. That's actually why this whole thing is going to work. You probably won't actually realize it's been like an hour when we talk, but probably will realize you learned new things between each session. Therapy can sometimes be mentally, emotionally and physically tiring, as well as energizing; but usually those are good signs of accomplishment! You know yourself the best, and are always in control of your treatment, and I respect that.
