Named after explorer General Frederick W. Lander, the City of Lander, Wyoming is located along the banks of the Middle Fork Popo Agie River. This is a popular tourist trap with several dude ranches and an Indian Reservation nearby. The city is also the location of the very first paid rodeo in the United States, which continues to be held there every year on the 4th of July weekend.

When you are feeling down, you typically don’t want to go to a rodeo or any other festivity for that matter. In fact, if you are suffering from depression, anxiety, or any other mental or emotional disorder, you may not feel like doing anything at all. Talk to one of the Lander area counselors about getting some treatment so you can start enjoying life again.

“You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” -A.A. Mine Thanks for clicking on my page! Often in the hectic pace of everyday life we may not feel there is time to address things we are currently facing. Counseling is an excellent way to designate a time, with the assistance of an unbiased professional, to assist you in reaching your goals. The goal of therapy is to feel good, not only about yourself, but the life you are living. Life can get complicated, so having someone in your corner can be helpful. Therapy also allows one to view things through a different lens. This new perspective can get us to make changes, or view things differently, which can be key to making long-term changes or impact. I view counseling is a collaborative, dynamic process, based on the therapeutic alliance between therapist and client. Through careful assessment of client concerns, I tailor the therapeutic approach to the specific needs of each individual. My approach to counseling is both direct yet warm and non judgmental with every client. I am gentle in my approach to make sure the client feels heard and validated. I employ a variety of diverse therapeutic approaches. These techniques include Person-Centered, CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT, MI. My personal philosophy is based on the idea that counseling is most effective with genuine, honest, and open communication. I believe we are all worthy of respect and that is important in the counseling relationship. I hope to dive deeper into what is going on in your life, and get you back on track. Hopefully you will leave each session feeling better and with some new tools and workable takeaways. I am excited to be with Betterhelp to begin working with those in need of healing. When I am not in session, I like to fill free time with family & friends. I love exploring the outdoors, staying active (with spin, weightlifting & yoga) and traveling. I have a passion for volunteering with at risk populations in my city and am an avid animal rescuer/advocate. You have made a big first step in your journey, I look forward to hearing from you! Feel free to contact me below to set up your first session, take care!

David has a very diverse background. In addition to Masters in Mental Health Counseling, he has a Maters in Biology/Biochemistry and worked in Research. David changed fields and worked 25 years as a radiochemist which combined nuclear chemistry and physics. As a counselor his background has been very beneficial in understanding the processes underlying behavior and mental health. As a result of his work in industry David has good people skills which are essential in working with clients with mental health issues. David provides an eclectic approach in counseling theory and uses Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Counseling, Schema Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. He is trained in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback which are good tools to help clients with issues such as depression, anxiety disorders and addiction. David’s initial approach is to develop a trusting relationship with the client. He then works with the client to identify the specific issues. A treatment plan is developed to address these issues. As treatment proceeds this plan may be revised as specific issues come up. When the client completes the plan, he will be reassessed. Depending on the clients progress the client may be discharged with specific goals to work on. If there are still unresolved issues a new treatment plan will be developed and treatment continued. If there are issues that require a different approach David may refer the client to another counselor that specializes in the client’s specific issues. On a personal level David has three adult children and two grandsons. David was raised in the mountains of Wyoming and has a place south of Jackson Hole which he spends as much time as he can. There his closest neighbors are elk, moose, and wolves. David lives most of the time in Boise. He has been fortunate to have traveled the world a great deal spending time in South East Asia and China. He recently spent time in Tuscany and in Malta. He still skis, canoes, loves to fly fish and generally spend time in nature.

Hello! If you are exploring Better Help, it is likely that you are struggling with something significant in your life. Finding the right person to help you through these challenges is very important. If you don't have a good relationship with your counselor, you won't make the progress you are hoping to achieve. I want to provide you with some information about me in order to help you decide if my experience and style is the right match for you. I am a professional counselor based in Casper, WY and licensed in Wyoming and Colorado and a National Certified Counselor. I have been counseling individuals since 2003 when I graduated with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. In 2018 I graduated with a Ph.D. in General Psychology, which added to my knowledge base. Throughout the years, I have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, community mental health centers, and schools. I have worked with people of all ages experiencing a wide variety of struggles, from everyday issues to depression and anxiety. My approach is client-centered and I use theory and techniques from humanistic therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I understand that each person's experiences and needs are unique and I will tailor our work to fit your goals. We can interact in the modality that is most comfortable to you - live voice, live video, or live chat. In between live sessions, we can use the messaging system to discuss scheduling and outside assignments, share thoughts and questions that come up between sessions, and share and discuss journal entries (if you use that feature). My availability is primarily in the evenings and on the weekends. I know finding a counselor can be difficult and I would be honored to take this journey with you.

I has been counseling individuals and couples since July 2007 while serving as a pastor and spiritual leader. My desire to help people led to me completing my MA in counseling from Midwestern Baptist Seminary and have been working as a professional counselor since August 2018. I recently completed my doctorate in professional counseling from Mississippi College in August 2021. My approach to counseling is holistic in nature and I believe in counseling the “whole” individual (thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and social considerations). I use an integrative design of various counseling theories that utilizes a broad array of both evidence-based and protocol-driven interventions which has shown positive outcomes for individuals experiencing mental health struggles as well as substance abuse clients. I love working with all my clients and have experience with children, adolescents, adults, as well as veterans dealing with trauma. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to become the best version of yourself!
