I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Mental Health Therapist for over 20 years. I earned my masters in social work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2002. Since I live in a rural area with little access to mental health services; I have had the opportunity to work with all populations. I have been the most effective in assisting those who experience depression, anxiety (including related diagnoses like OCD and sleep disorders) , and relationship problems (unhealthy and abusive relationships, parenting, and couples counseling). I have worked in all levels of care from psychiatric inpatient, to group homes, crisis centers, and outpatient counseling. A large portion of my work has been in the child welfare system and juvenile system. I have worked with abused and neglected children as well as their parents. I have many military veterans in my life. My family has navigated the VA disability process and I have many ideas to share in order to help clients involved with the VA. I practice through the lens of trauma-informed care and consider the whole person; not just individual symptoms. My approach is eclectic and client-driven. I will assist you in formulating a treatment plan that will be ever adapting to your current needs. My friends describe me as "The most approachable person in the room." I know how hard is it to seek support and I never make people feel judged or minimize their experiences. Helping people help themselves is my passion. I like the Better Help platform because people can often feel stuck and unable to take the multiple steps needed to seek counseling in a traditional office setting. Online counseling removes many of the barriers that keep people from seeking support. I have had anxious clients who started out with messaging and slowly moved to phone and video as they felt more comfortable. I have been with Better Help for 4 years. I started 1/2020 as the pandemic was starting up and I had the opportunity to work with clients all over the world and see how they were being affected by the illness and local rules and regulations meant to mitigate the spread. I still have three of those clients who started in 2020. It has been very nice to see their progress over a long period of time. I am looking forward to assisting you in meeting your potential and helping improve your daily quality of life! You have taken the first step. Let's get started.

Hello all! I was born and raised in a small town in Wyoming where I developed a love for horses and the outdoors. I then moved to Laramie, Wyoming where I graduated in 2013 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders. I enjoyed working with people who had speech disorders, but felt as though I wanted to focus more on the underlying issues that were influencing peoples’ lives. I then decided to go back to school to get a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling. I graduated in 2016 and moved to another very small town with my husband, dog, and 2 horses. Right after I graduated I began work in a community mental health practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I really enjoyed working with people of all ages and helping them through challenging times in their lives. I became a mom in 2017, which greatly changed my priorities and life trajectory. After I became a mom I decided to make a slight career change into becoming a school counselor, because I found my work with school age clients to be exciting and fulfilling. However, I still continue to see clients in my mental health private practice on a part time basis. I also am pursuing certification in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. I strongly believe that a healthy therapeutic relationship that fosters unconditional positive regard, empathy, and authenticity is the vehicle of change for clients. Creating a therapeutic relationship that is based on those three principles helps clients to explore their experiences, modify their perceptions of themselves and the world, and increase their confidence in making choices and pursuing a course of action. I also believe that people have the innate ability and wisdom to get through any problem they are facing. My strengths include being able to connect with people easily while making them feel heard and understood. In my free time I enjoy riding horses, spending time in the mountains, and being with my family and animals. I am excited to connect with people on the BetterHelp platform!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed in the state of Wyoming (LPC #432). I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a BA degree and obtained a master's degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I have over 20 years of experience in private practice in the field of psychotherapy. Because I practice in rural Wyoming, I am a generalist in terms of the types of mental health issues I address and the demographics of my clients. I am also a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider (NBCC) and a Certified Meditation Instructor (AIHCP)> I make it my practice to treat each client with "unconditional positive regard." Each of us has positive qualities and areas in which we can improve. I see mental health therapy as a collaboration between the client and myself. My therapy style has also been tailored to the needs of a wide range of clients. The type of therapy provided is decided upon by mutual agreement between my client and me. Typically, more than one style of therapy is used throughout sessions. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, rational emotive therapy, and compassionate psychology therapy are primarily used. Therapy is about understanding one's actions, learning new techniques and skills to develop improved communication and coping skills, and then putting those to use with the support, encouragement, and assistance of your therapist.

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US with most therapists is $100 to $200 per hour. How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Rolling Hills?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Rolling Hills therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in WY, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 82637 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site where you can schedule a session based on your and the therapist's schedule. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists around or in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Rolling Hills counselor?

Before seeing your therapist near you, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Rolling Hills therapists near you may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn how to best help and support you.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Rolling Hills licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Rolling Hills counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Rolling Hills, Wyoming can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Rolling Hills has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you.
