Thomas Childers, LCSW
About me
NOTE: I only work on Fridays or Saturdays depending on the week. If we meet on a Friday one week then we will meet on a Saturday the following week. Some weekday times may become available in the future.
I have worked in a variety of settings including acute psychiatric hospitalization, residential substance abuse treatment, partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient, and individual therapy. My experience has allowed me the opportunity to work with a multitude of populations with differing psychiatric diagnoses. I have experience working individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, eating disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorder, LGBTQ+ community, substance abuse, and much more.
My approach is very person-centered and my focused is on the client's needs. I do not believe it is my place to tell people what they need to change, but rather, to help guide them to self-actualization so they can make change within themselves. I implement several therapeutic modalities to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I also make my best attempts at catering to each person's learning style and have an array of resources to meet each clients unique needs.

The time that I spent working with Thomas was very short, but it was not without its benefits.
Thomas is undoubtedly very intelligent and extremely passionate about his work assisting people. However, you wouldn't guess the level that he's playing on because his laid back demeanor and relaxed, friendly personality makes the therapy sessions easy to complete.
I'm definitely going to get on his schedule when I return to Better Help. Absolutely.

I have only been seeing Thomas for a few weeks and it has improved my life so much. He always makes sure we cover what I want to talk about in our sessions. He also sends a lot of helpful worksheets and videos. I would highly recommend him!

TJ has been amazing with me over the past several months! His advice is very helpful and he not only gives great advice, but actually listens to my needs and what I’m here to get help with! He understands that therapy isn’t cheap and helps to get the most out of every session we have together! I’ve always finished every session and felt to be in a better place mentally than previously. I would highly recommend TJ to any of my friends, family or colleagues!
