About me

Hello! My name is Thomas Kaufman, and I am an LPC working out of Madison, WI. For the past 20 years, I have worked with families, couples, adults, and adolescents. Using cognitive-behavioral theory with narrative techniques, I help empower clients to explore areas within their lives that present challenges and inhibit change, and assist them with finding solutions that will work for them. However, I also believe that the therapeutic relationship is a vital component within any program, which means that I believe that any work needs to be collaborative between myself and my clients. I am certified to deliver trauma-focused treatments as well as providing services to help manage stress and anxiety.

I plan on sticking with Dr. Kaufman for as long as possible. I’ve finally found a therapist that not only listens to my concerns but actively supports me and helps me find ways to manage my stress and depression in these difficult times. Dr. Kaufman makes me feel very comfortable opening up to him and when I make last minute changes to my schedule he doesn’t make me feel any negative way which is a huge deal for me as my schedule is always changing. I highly recommend him to anyone that I know that is struggling!
